Yes!! I know you can help. :) Best Suit for My FIANCEE??? - Page 3

J.Crew's suits are pretty similar to Theory in terms of quality but I think if possible, definitely go for the Theory outlet. I went to a Massachusetts outlet 3 weeks ago actually and I saw the Xylo model suit for $178 and then 30% off clearance as well, so pretty good suit for around $130.

From my experience, Theory's a little edgier but also cheaper than J.Crew. If Theory's fit you well, tbh they're a pretty good bargain.

1. Go to a Men's Warehouse and try on a couple suits to figure out his approx size.
- Most men tend to be between a 40 and 44.
- The jacket should be snug on his shoulders and the correct length (sides can be taken in by a tailor later)
- Make sure to note R (regular) S (short) or L (long) for jacket length.

2. If your budget is really only $300-$400 then Suit Supply is probably your only good option (if in or around NYC, Chicago, or DC skip 1. and visit a Suit Supply store)
- Choose a suit style from here -->: http://us.suitsupply.com/suits/Suits,en_US,sc.html
- The "Washington" is the slimmest/most modern style so if he isn't in above average shape try something like the "Napoli" or "London" model.
- If choosing the "Washington" try buying the suit size you determined earlier and also 1 size up in probably a Short aka get a 40R and a 42S and mail back the worse one.
- If "Napoli" or "London" buy the suit size you determined earlier and buy the R and L just in case and mail back the worse one.
- If you want to decrease the width of the waist portion to make the suit look better or increase the V shape, take suit to a tailor and ask for the waist to be "taken in".

*This is by no means a complete or perfect guide as such would take too much space, but following this will yield a well enough fitting suit at a reasonable price quickly.

Good Luck.

IChen - Thanks for the follow up... IMO J. Crew suits are a little bit better quality than Theory.  Ever seen Theory has gotten bigger and bigger their quality has gone down hill.  Most of their fabrics are from China, and Theory is ALL made in China... now I'm beginning to see production in places like Vietnam, etc. etc. - not to say that this is necessarily bad because even made in USA nowadays pretty much made in Mexico or fill in the blank with any Latin American country.

But aside from that political point, the fits is good but quality is something I would call "a little bit better than H&M."  With that being said, J Crew actually uses English / Italian fabrics (the hand on the fabrics is much nicer and the fabric itself is a better quality) and the production seems to be decent.  It could be made in China, Mexico, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, wherever, it is a matter of QC and the people who run the factory.  Do they stress quality? Do they have a good grasp of Quality Control?  I've seen stuff that came out of China that blew made in USA out of the water.  Look at Steven Alan shirts, supposedly they are made in the USA but the stiching is awful.

So I guess in summary, Theory is an option, especially if you can pick one up at the outlet, but thinking about the long run, I would pay the extra few hundred bucks and look for something that is higher quality that your husband/ fiance is going to get more use out of over the course of time.

Cheers.

Yu

Those are all terrible. Do NOT buy a polyester suit! Especially at those prices!

Hmmm, I think the OP simply wants people to post links to sites with inexpensive suits within her price range. Learning from the information provided to make an informed decision, hmmm, not really important.

So wait, let me get this straight.  You came to the thread asking for suggestions, and then you're purposely refusing to listen to a single one of them?  Sounds like the perfect equation for productivity and success.

You might as well be spending your time using Google to find random pictures of cats.

Me too! The "garden wedding in December" was highly suspicious unless she was in someplace like Australia.
