Since both doors are up and working, I'm assuming he didn't wreck it. Otherwise they would've been stuck shut. It also looks like the damage is purely from the fire.

I vaguely recall hearing or seeing somewhere that the accident/fire wasn't caused by him but his friend who was with him. Been a while since I've heard about that though.
