I've never heard of that before...

Do you know who your interview board will be? Just people from the local office or people from HQ. of the people at the local office, how many are Chinese, Chinese Americans, Chinese who have studied abroad?

I've sat on an interview board a few times for a Korean company. The ones who got high marks all around we're the ones whose attitudes changed depending on the person asking the question. For Korean applicants, rank was very salient, so I think a lot depended on how they perceived us. One applicant questioned me (companies have hired random white people to make themselves seem more international for a day) and I gave him the technical answer and told him he wouldn't likely get the job.

What is the interview format?

Depends on many factors, especially where they did undergrad/worked + home culture + whether they're dicks. If you're interviewing at a truly Chinese PE firm without being actually Chinese, you're probably pretty boss and whatever you do will be used to support preconceived notions they already have of you.

Korea is a different beast ... calculating the levels of respectfulness would give me a headache. I don't know how they do it.

Also, to add a bit to Claghorn, you mean Chinese from China? or like Taiwan or Hong Kong

Not a clue, though if I had to hazard a guess, I'd say Taiwanese and Mainlanders are a bit more similar to each other than those from HK.
