Just out of curiosity, as a fairly new member myself, what do you think he would have searched for that would have enlightened him? "Good shoes"? "Shoes for suit"? The whole benefit of a "forum" is that it's place for 2-way communication... ask questions and get answers. Sure, the guy could have crawled the internet and probably found answers somewhere, but he came to this forum to ask the question. There's nothing more off-putting than to ask a question and get told "you're an idiot" without comment. Jermyn stepped up and gave some basic advice -- why was that so hard, and why was it so wrong for the OP to ask?

TBH, the most offputting thing about starting to wear nicer clothes is being associated with some of the snobs who do so (It's a lot like being a Redskins fan -- I love the team, hate the fans that I'm associated with). The OP comes here clearly looking for help. If you're not interested in helping, or you think he's asking silly questions (which is perfectly OK to think!) -- just don't post! It's as easy as that!

Or perhaps the OP, should he have wished to preserve some modicum of dignity, would have done well to do some homework before posting so many statements which make it obvious he hasn't a clue about the basic 'rules' of dressing well.

The problem was that he didn't even try.

Just searching by those terms you mentioned would have yielded him plenty of reading material that would have sent him on his way.

I am a very difficult fit but like very good shoes.
Ludwig Reiter work for me. AS far as I know they have only one
US retailer. I got mine in Vienna.

I found the pages within Styleforum 101 quite handy as a starting point - so for shoes see: http://www.styleforum.net/a/how-should-i-start-my-business-wardrobe - down the end. It gives some general advice and recommends brands to explore and avoid like the plague.

Hope this helps.
