Need Advice on luxury shoe brands

Thread Starter

First post here.  I"m looking to buy a couple new pairs of shoes and I'm wondering what brands anyone can highly recommended.  I am in a full suit and tie everyday, rather formal industry (some black tie, formal customers/events, lots of french cuffs, vests and cuff links) but i'm on my feet a lot as well.  I prefer loafers but usually with something up front to class them up (metal tag, etc), also looking for square front where possible and I prefer a larger heel.  I have been wearing Kenneth Cole for years but its time to get the best.  Can anyone recommend a few names to check out?  The money isn't as important as the look and meticulous quality/detail.  Thanks very much in advance!

What he meant to say was : just go through the first few pages of the forum. All and more should be revealed!

Wow.
Where to begin...
  • Loafers with 'full suits' are not formal. At all. You should be looking at shoes with Oxford lacing.
  • Metal tags do not belong on dress shoes. There is nothing classy about these.
  • Square toes are a sure fire indicator of low quality in a shoe.

I would suggest that you take a look on the shoe p0rn thread, this will give you a good idea of what brands and styles are available.

If you are looking for 'the best' try these brands:

John Lobb
Edward Green
JM Weston

Best of luck and welcome to the forum.

I am really starting to think that SF should just streamline the site by removing the search function.

While I am here, can someone tell me which flip flops I should wear with my four button, black, ventless shiny suit with one inch lapels? If it helps I usually go without a tie and prefer satiny shirts in deep rich colours like red and navy. It goes without saying that I prefer white sport socks. Please do not waste my time with discussions of workmanship, craftsmanship or value for price. I just want the best. Thanks!

Is it possible that new members get at least an automatic reminder for using the search function before a first posting? I do not want to do injustice to the OP, but this strong reference to loafer with suit + square toe + kenneth cole + overall language sounds really like trolling.

BTW the search function is not that functional...I've tried searching for things like loafers and end up with everything from suits to umbrella threads. I ultimately end up going to google to search the site for key words.

If anything the search function should be done over and made more prominent so that people could use more.

Jermyn gave good advice. I would also add Allen Edmonds as a high quality shoe brand at a more modest price point.
