Nothing screams prestige more than being a walking billboard by wearing a ridiculously marked up, Vietnamese visor.

I wear it because of the logo, the cachet, the prestige and the exclusivity.

...and it's made in China.

Brooks Brothers has delved into the China manufacturing route and so have many other "better" companies. This is what's gone on the past four Obama years. Strong increase in Chinese imports here. Outside what China has traditionally been famous for - goods of silk, porcelaine, carved wood, jade, etc. - I can do pretty much without.

Hilarious how this has somehow been turned around into being Obama's fault!

Outsourcing from all formerly dominant producers has been going on for at least the last 40 years, particularly since the 1970s oil shock etc., and accelerating in the wake of the end of the Cold War in the early 1990s. This is not a party-political issue, although it's certainly political in many rather different ways, and it will continue whether Romney or Obama is elected. Like every other developed economy, the USA has been turning into a nation of consumers, and this entire ridiculous thread actually serves as one tiny example...

What Flying Monkey said. Step away from Faux News for a second there Lafont. Aren't you part of the problem? Purchasing "Made in China" junk?

The sun visor from the Ritz Paris is not junk, nor is it from China. It's a beautiful sun visor of fine material and well made. I don't care, in this case, what country is was made in. If the Ritz Paris people made an arrangement with a manufacturer in Vietnam that's fine with me.

I thought this entire website served as an example of this.

But it was particularly pertinent in the context of someone complaining about the outsourcing of US manufacturing to China etc. whilst buying something made overseas.
