Mid-brown suede captoe?

Who makes one under $500, that is easy to procure, try on and return without issue?

Something like this: http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=527&Parent_Id=522&Product_Id=1573574&default_color=Brown&cmp=PPC_Google_pla

But in a slightly lighter shade. And it can be a blucher; does not necessarily have to be a balmoral.

You could try a pair of Carminas at the Armoury.com (there are several) or else the C&J Westfield in tobacco suede. For a bit more I like the C&J belgrave in polo suede (hand grade).

Thanks. Where does one get C&J's these days? Seems that they are on backorder at a lot of places, or $600+ (Ben SIlver, etc.)

You might be able to order from the C&J shop in NYC, but you will be paying full retail price.

You can order from CJ directly for immediate dispatch. They are the same price as bodiley's and pediwear, but you pay shipping. Significantly cheaper than CJ NYC.

Do you also have to pay import tax?

Try Herring shoes.

Their house brand are rebadged ones from your typical Northhampton players.

How soon do you want/need the shoes? You could try Robert Old. They can procure any pair of C&J. The benefit with them is that their prices are slightly lower than other merchants. Carmina is also an option, but that would place you past your $500 limit.

Ordering from the any one of the C&J shops in the UK could also be a possibility.

....been looking at the Reading for quite some time, although this is a brogue captoe ...definitely not your typical fora brand/maker favorite, but at 175 USD shipped (and a free shoe tree), it fits my needs...

Do they actually respond to emails? I wrote to them with a genuine question about a pair of hand-grade C&Js they have in stock, intending to place an order as soon as they supplied some simple details about sizing. They haven't written back in four days, and they have no reason to think I'm a time waster. baldy[1].gif

RE: Carminas at the Armoury. I queried them and the catch is that the return policy is for merchandise credit only. That and the shipping to/from HK put a dent in my plans when it came to a shoe I was unsure of the fit on.

Howard Yount has some good looking captoes in snuff I believe...

I've actually been looking around for brown suede captoes as well, this thread is really great. I had been considering going MTM with Meermin (which doesn't satisfy the easy to procure and return requirement OP asked) and was wondering for anyone with any knowledge how it would stack up against some of the other suggestions made in this thread. I'd be willing to pay up to $500, but would like to balance price and quality since i don't anticipate wearing suede captoes all that frequently.
