Best Country for Custom Suit AND Shoes

Thread Starter

I am in the process on planning a vacation and thought I would kill three birds with one stone. I will take the opportunity to purchase at least four suits and four pairs of shoes. I plan on spending around MAX 500 per suit, however, I would prefer to spend around 200-300.

Shoes I was thinking MAX would be 200 per pair. I also only plan on being in town for about a week, therefore the end product would more than likely have to get mailed to me.

Have a few questions

What would be the best country/city to visit? (Please note it would be nice to have some sort of vacation while there.)

What type of garments would be the best bang for my buck?

Can the one week deadline be attained or would it have to be shipped?

Also would there be a problem with customs if I had to have it mailed?

Thank you in advance for your input

There's no bang for the buck in bespoke. And 500$ max. for a suit isn't going to get you further than overnight fused crap in south-east Asia.

If you're only willing to pay $500 for a "bespoke" product, then I think you lack the knowledge, understanding and appreciation necessary for successfully commissioning anything bespoke.

I am not looking for Bespoke, I am looking for custom tailored suits to my measurements. I know for a fact that you can get a custom tailored suit in countries in asia between 200-500 US.

I'm afraid bourbon is right. Why bother getting some nominally customized dreck if you can put that money towards something a little better RTW.

If you're insistent, I think Vietnam might be your best bet.

Now take out your calculator. How much does 4 metres of mid range cloth cost? All the other bits. Ignore the cost of labour and all the other overhead. Just material costs. What do you really think you're getting for $200

The Men's Wearhouse in Podunk, Indiana should be able to meet your budgetary needs. You can visit the World's Largest Rocking Chair while you're there on vacation. The Macaroni Grille in the new strip mall just outside the city has an excellent lunch special.

You can get a "custom" piece of crap for that price. Read the forums more. You'll see plenty of people who tried Asian MTM in that price range and ended up with stuff that didn't fit well etc. etc.

If your total budget is $2500 appx. which it sounds like, get 2 nice suits instead of 4 pieces of shit.

Im not trying to get redneck prices and do not need your rude comments. All I was asking was feedback, I see no reason to spend 3 k on a custom suit. Like anyone I want to get the best bang for my buck. Don't worry about it though. I'll continue to research and see what I come up with.

Next time I post a question I will ensure I get feedback from those that have ventured in other countries and not those that simply shop in the US.

Just remember - if it was out there for that price and the same quality as the 3k suit, people who come to a style forum every day would be buying it.

Anyways, good luck ...

I think you'll find more people who have ventured to Italy than Bengladesh for custom clothes.

You're better off trolling eBay than the back alleys of Kuala Lampur if you want to look good.

I think any asian country would be perfect for you. You can find "cheap" suites with decent quality in Thailand. But also other countries are able to create good quality for nice prices.
