Saint Laurent Paris - Official Thread. - Page 569

Went into the (Harrods) SLP today to get a feel for the new stuff. I didn't think I would like the woven moon jacket but it's a really cool piece in person/stands out more than I thought it would. This is size 40/50 - they have sold every other size within a couple of days. Please someone tell me it's a terrible idea to buy into it and it's ridiculous looking :brick:

Also tried the 13K embroidered teddy, dang all that red glitter on the arm seams and the way it reflects the light makes you look like a rockstar haha.

Also tried the (washed) FW15 L17 and can see what @neonrider means about the quality of the leather.. incidentally @neonrider just to doubly confirm if I'm a size 50 in this (fairly thin feeling) L17 - would I go for the same size in the 'C' code SS16 version?

REALLY liked the raw hem flannel - I'm not sure if the other versions (bleached) are made of thinner cotton but the one i tried on is that same thicker cotton material used in my red/black FW15 flannel I have one. Ignore the sizing, they only had a size M for trying but I think I would go for L.

Also tried the 100% cotton repaired jeans just to get a feel for the sizing and cut of the jeans this season... as you can seen even these are SK there is something off about them ... I don't know if it's extra length of the cut but the bagginess around the knees and leg opening look a bit sloppy on me... luckily I had just bought some fw13 crash denim off a friend before coming into store so I'm pretty pleased on that score at least.

I don't know about anybody else (maybe Kieran) but I feel with the impending exit of Hedi I have to try and buy up as much as possible. Lol. Obviously I'm not made of money though so prob top of the list for me is:

Hedi 30 suede boots in the darker colour.

SS16 L17 in black to add to my L01.

Raw hem flannel.

Light washed/destroyed jeans (I want to try this seasons destroyed but I fear they will suffer the same cut problem) - can probably forever scan ebay/grailed/facebook group for earlier iterations on this point.

Plain silk tees.

dude that last look is fucking sick. perfection.

same size in the l17, leather different but patterns the same. i think you could size down to a 48 in general tho man.

did you see the brown suede biker they have or did it already sell out? i really liked it but i really don't like the chocolate brown, it just feels too grandpa. if they make one in tobacco i'll buy...several smile.gif

i'm having the same problem, i really don't know what to grab this season. it's easily one of his best seasons, hard to know what to put at the top of the list. flannels, bikers, bombers, shoes, the new destroyeds...all of these are among hedi's best work.

This season was definitely a sleeper for me as well. Wasn't really too excited after the runway, but they grew on me. The teddy jackets are gorgeous. I really like the "bang" one but hard to justify north of 7k for a piece that wouldn't be worn much. Would rather spend that on a new watch.

As for final pickups, I'm focused more on permanent collection pieces that will see regular wear and last the test of time. The boots, duffle coats, overcoats, etc.

Nothing's made in Turkey anymore, although I remember that that being the case as you stated a while back for some items. Dior also makes a point of never going on sale a la Hermes, and Chanel, which keeps the brand upper tier.

maybe this is true now but they had 50% off sales in the several years following the financial crisis

Hi, would like to enquire, on all wash tags of your Saint Laurent items, do your N and T join together? As I've just purchased a teddy jacket "said to be purchased on Mr Porter" but the N & T's do not join together like the few other Saint Laurent items I have... Seller keeps insisting its authentic, would like some feedback from you guys?

@ohyehhh killer as usual. I'm hoping to pick up one of the bleached raw hem flannels this coming week.

This is a fake tag unfortunately. The texture and font are off.

Font aside, that tag looks like it's made of some tightly woven material, where as real slp tags, to my knowledge, are unwoven (though they do have a grid-like pattern). They feel and look almost like paper or tyvek (they might actually be tyvek), and when they're lightly used the fiber they're made with creates an almost hairy edge.

Is the sizing on jeans same as last season......especially on the waist?

@ohyehhh  All of it looks great. I grabbed that flannel with a normal hem and love it. You're making me want to get one of the jackets. I think I'm holding out for the palm tree one though.

@Prudy @neonrider  Finally got around to watching the video, pure jouissance. My thoughts don't really add much. The thing in white's rant about pre-packaged capitalist dissent and Hedi's work not being truly individual embodied the banality of the discussion perfectly - 'individuality' being the most ideologically motivated statement possible today.

I'm always interested in talk about things being 'cool' especially underground rock scenes etc. It seems that every year we hear people talk about how rock and roll isn't cool anymore, culture has moved on whatever. Except that those scenes always still exist, and are notoriously elitist (a contradiction given the politics professed - but fuck it). That panel was just a bunch of posh english folk who seemed always on the outside of cool -- look at their vitriol to Dior's homage to the Libertines and the camden/bethnal green scene -- which kind of explains their negativity. Make sense? Like no wonder people get so mad about this stuff. They spent their whole lives looking or hearing about cool kids. Then they get a job in fashion (cool right?) and are forced to talk about the scene they could never be a part of.

Also it was so funny when the girl in white said that the only people wearing it were probably 'asians and russians right?' No one replied, but that that came out of the girl supposedly interested in diversifying fashion and radical politics etc. was fucking hilarious.

Hello mates, I have read that L17 quality and fit change in every season.

I have a calfskin L17 in size 46 that I love. The code is 330462Y5CT110000.

How is this style in your opinion about quality leather used and fit?

Thanks in advance

I think they might have seasonal (private) sales as my SA reached out to me about it. He also mentioned there's an outlet in New Jersey, but we never got into specifics.

Anyway, I got to try on the SS16 waxed denim in my normal size and was shocked to find out I could take off the jeans without unbuttoning them. Shocking because I've gained weight! If I could lose the weight I've gained in the past six months in a pinch, I could have gone down two sizes--even with my thunder thighs.

They're definitely not as skinny as my FW13 jeans so I can see why a lot of users here aren't too thrilled about it. I'm going to see if I can find a proxy because they look fabulous on my frame.

Question: is the sizing of the raw denim in the permanent collection also affected in a similar manner?

The astronaut jacket was cool; totally didn't expect it to be embroidered. And the Dino sweater...lol.
ohyehhh I hate to tell you this, but you're able to rock that astronaut jacket! I'm not sure how, but it works. smile.gif

Otherwise, the flannels and jeans are no brainers for you; they look outstanding.

I enjoyed the detail on some of those pieces, especially the jacket.
