Can anyone let me know the differences between FW 13 big crash denim and the FW 14 reissue? Much appreciated, thanks.

Some advice needed.

I have a pair of jeans that I love in the D01 cut in a washed out black. Lately I've be getting into skinner fits and I'm thinking about either selling the D01's and replacing them with a grey/washed black pair D02's or just the getting D01's tapered.

What would you do?

I would recommend finding a pair of D02s. Tapering jeans is no big deal on raw pairs, but can get tricky when dealing with washed ones. The fading at the seams often becomes misaligned or lost if that makes any sense.

@bawlin ya says velour on the site but the buy book say Japanese black velvet...what ever they are I want em and I've seen the Japanese velvet on the woman's and it's crazy nice. I actually spoke to some one who work in the SL textile dept and she said it took for ever to choose the right velvet.

@Thorns ya I'm excited to say the least. Those and the black suede chain wyatts on pre order..just need to choose a Devon!

@volchok 1st is SS15 grey D02 non Raws 2nd are FW15 raw denim raw hems . Both taken in to 14cm .. Hadent worn the grey in about nine moths which is stupid because they are great.

@therattler jacket looks great, bravo !

Talking about materials, for black calf leather do you know why they switched out reina lux for boxer nero?

Thanks man! Yes, my denim is SS13 for the reason that you noted. The fabric code on your denim is yuo59, which I know is raw. The fabric code on my denim is yuo60, which I don't know if it's raw.

Are you sure that's correct? Under Slann's guide, If the years match in the tag, then it is a FW season. If the years do not match, it is a SS season. Source: http://lustercatcher.com/2016/03/01/saint-laurent-tags-guide-spot-fakes/

Yes I'm 100% sure, they are definitely SS 13. The code for AW 13 is completely different (327138 Y999B + colour). You can ignore the years matching or not - 2013 1 is SS 13, and 2013 3 is AW 13.

There were however two batches produced; the first lot was maybe even skinnier than the AW 13 ones and sold out very quickly. It then took them until some time in May to replenish them (and when they finally did they changed the sizing and made them looser - but it didn't really matter as the AW 13 ones were starting to arrive).

So that requires you put in 5 - 6 buttonholes lined up properly, then put in each button and make sure that all the buttons line up properly, and then make sure each button matches with its corresponding buttonhole. Whereas with a zipper, you sew it in and bam, closure is done. You probably save some pocket change by doing a zipper fly instead of a button fly but when you're doing hundreds/thousands of each piece of clothing, it adds up real quick.

Is there a reason why they use buttons for D01s and zippers for D02s? In my experience, both fit about the same in the top block. Not sure I have a preference, I'm just curious about their rationale.

I agree with @echau

I had a pair of D01 raws tapered from upper thigh to ankle and they turned out great, but I wouldn't try it with a pair that had any noticeable wear or distressing. The fading will end up looking strange and unnatural, as there may be some shift in how the fabric sits.

Interesting. I'm quite sure fabric code YU059 is a raw denim correct? Do you know whether fabric code YU060 denotes raw denim?

Yeah, YU059 is raw denim. I have no idea about YU060 though, but in the picture it looks to be raw.

They don't have any fading
