but in that pic the cheesy dude in the bomber is obviously wearing hedi boots, not the purported chelsea boots in the pic. the toe is more pointed and you can see the straps on the side i think. so i think the info is wrong from the beginning. does anybody actually have a pair of these boots so we can share real pics?

i could be wrong, happy to be wrong, etc. but let's at least start from facts.

whatever the source, why not jut buy a pair of cp's? they're almost indistinguishable. shit, i wear $10 uniqlo tees with my L-whatevers all the time.

lol he looks like such a clown having the jeans hit the top of his jodhpurs like that, reminds me of this guy on IG:

I tried on the distressed L01 a while ago, I was surprised how light the calf skin leather is, distressing was cool, but I still prefer the classic albeit more delicate L01, and that's even though I like distressed stuff in general (as opposed to a dressier SL look) - quick snap from Harrods - sorry for shitty lighting:

The guy was trying really hard to sell it (he wasn't the usual SL guy, had waltzed over from Burberry) - its pretty cringe when SAs try to tell you about a jacket without knowing anything about the brand at all... This happened in Sloane St a few months ago as well when the (new I guess) chinese girl tried to sell me the embroidered moon jacket, telling me, "If you like NASA and stuff you'll love this jacket" ... wtf.

Succumbed to buying the jungle teddy as well, therattler partly to blame :D would still be interested how you guys are wearing it with all black+tan shoe outfits though.

With the weather heating up (finally) in London managed to get a bit of wear out the flannel I bought a while back which was sitting in the cupboard, was in two minds about whether to sell but definitely keeping now, got some compliments on it already - the colour is so rich and I love the popper buttons -- can see myself picking up the western flannels in fw16 as well since they are "safe" buys:

Any guys have specific recommendations on t-shirts that fit the bill of: slubbed/worn effect/low cut neck (so goes well with jackets), preferably raw cut neckline/sleeves/hem + also a slightly longer length than usual - I need to cover the fact half of my tigher pairs of jeans are 1 size too small and sit very low on my hips :embar: (t-shirt above is pull & bear btw - £8 but wear the black/grey/beige constantly) - I love the SL tees but just don't like the cropped fitting of them (even when trying size XL).

But overall it's an amazing jacket and having both is a Grail.

Thoughts? Does anybody have both?

I have, think a few others too. As others have said they give two different looks but I kinda feel it's converged with the SS16 L17 which has that waxed looking effect - it looks less brutish than the FW13 original but still easy to dress casually, I mean really you could easily do that with the L01 but as others have mentioned because of the perfect smooth leather grain it's going to be painful when you blemish or scratch it whereas the L17 is tougher, x2 cos I have the red L01 - I still remember the day I got nose grease (yeah really) on the front and I made it worse by using water to try and rub the grease out and the leather darkened fml - luckily it faded and you can't see anything now.

I feel a lot more stilted in my L01 cos I'm conscious of damaging it, not so with the L17.

One thing I can say is that if you are fortunate enough to be able to acquire then do so - I certainly didn't regret it :slayer:

What kind of socks are you guys wearing with these boots? Speaking material & thickness-wise. Or if any at all.

Any recommendations are appreciated!

I'm a wool sock kind of guy. In my workboots like Vibergs I wear thick merino socks, but with my Wyatts, chelseas, etc. I like to wear Outlier's Megafine Merino Socks, thinner and more lightweight which is good for warmer months.

I might have to give those Outlier's a shot, thanks!

Thanks for the replies concerning the L01 Vs L17. However, what I was most asking for was about the quality of the current lamb L01. I've read that some season's jackets have been of pretty bad quality. How about this one?

On socks I personally wear Pantherella Naish. They're pretty perfect and look sleek if you wear any jeans that show socks.

i tried on the fw16 officers blazer, the one with the red trim etc., the other day and loved it. but it was super small. I can normally wear a 46  in the blazers, though they are borderline, but this was extreme. and though it looked like a hotel staff's jacket, it was beautiful  and would be great in the closet as a collectors item for sure. i'll be picking up a micro dot silk shirt, and a standard two button blazer today as well. silk shirt fit perfectly, and looks great under a blazer, leather or even on its own.

I think im the only one, but I don't like the aged L01 at all. something about the brown on it ruins it for me. quality is there for sure, but it doesn't do it for me at all.

was told that "most" of the fw16 collection should be in stores in the next three weeks.

and im with neon, those old boots are way overrated. glad I never bought a pair.
