Mr porter also sells to vip clients before anyone else has a chance. Maybe they had no stock or very little to put up.
fuck mr porter, they sell this shit at the most expensive prices with the worst service. and their whole be one of the new bourgeois schtick is gross. i try never to buy from them if i can help it.

i think i'm gonna let go one of my SS16 L17's. 48, worn only for fit, etc. PM me if you're interested.
Doesn't almost every retailer do this though?

It's been hashed out several times before in various threads that taking care of your VIP clients is much better business sense.

Yeah Mr. Porter shows their "EIP" clientele what's coming almost a week ahead and allows them to pick what they want. That's why I always laugh when they advertise that they're getting Yeezy's etc. It's all for show. Did the jungle teddy go up on the US site even? I didn't even see it at all.

I grabbed one through them from the UK site. I love it but I'm iffy because it's being worn by all these famous cats. Might garner more attention than I would like.

If anyone has any information on the L17 below, it'd be much appreciated.  I believe its FW13 but cannot find much info on it beyond a listing on Rakuten, given the tag's code.  It feels a bit heavier than the standard calf L17.  And it has a kind of washed distressing, also

that's the "vintage calf" L17 i believe. produced in v small numbers just after the original. great jacket, almost impossible to find. if i recall correctly, the leather's smoother and less washed than the og.

yes, other retailers do it. but mr p is just a special kind of nasty with their weird exclusive lists, their higher than retail prices, and their relentless aspirational marketing that glamorizes cheesy work-hard/play-hard douchebro hipsters into Global Lifestyle Icons. no offense to those of you who are smile.gif

i stopped ordering from there when i got a pair of wyatt boots that had been worn by someone for like days and returned and then sent to me. wtf. terrible.

Whoever came up on those tan F/W 2013 Wyatts for $600 off Grailed copped a steal.

It is not the same lol, People who ordered from Mr. Porter expected the slimmer shaft cigar and got the tobbaco with the big shaft from SS15. Suede is not even the same texture and look at the extra shaft opening on 2015.

dude. you have zero idea what you're talking about. listen instead of wallowing in your ignorance. you're confusing everyone with total misinformation.

mr p doesn't specify the colorway. you have to GUESS it. they ONLY have (ever had) nut, not tobacco/cigar. if you GUESSED cigar, you guessed wrong. if you ordered from them expecting "tobacco", it's your mistake, and it's a good indication that you don't really know what you're doing...because they only had the nut.

also, there WAS no tobacco wyatt harness until this season. there was ONLY nut for the last few seasons in suede harness wyatt (and a very rare black suede harness).

ok? i don't know how much clearer i can make this.

let's try this again. officially, right now, there are two colors, nut and cigar. cigar has silver hardware, nut has gold. it's not complicated, you guys are just overcomplicating it to the point that you're totally lost. hence, you're going in circles.

the TOP pic above is cigar. the BOTTOM pic is nut. you're conflating two different things, and mistaking them for the same (which i think you're calling "tobacco", but who the fuck knows?).

now the fact that mr p sent you last season boots is yet another reason never to order from them. but your expectations were mistaken to begin with. you were NEVER going to get a cigar wyatt, because you actually ordered nut (whatever you may have thought you ordered).

please people. can we chill with the misinfo.

In fact, I have both "cigar" and "tobacco" right here. As you can see, they're exactly the same. It's just a translation error, "cigare" became "tobacco".

After a little DIY distressing, my black D02s are now raw hems. Thanks for the help everyone.

Feels kind of counter-intuitive to put a blade to $500 jeans, but they turned out really well.

For what it's worth, I've never had a problem dealing with Mr Porter, but I get how a few experiences like that could ruin it for you @neonrider

@Isolar I'm thinking of doing it too. I have my old AW13 D02s that I've repaired and wear on the weekends, a fresh pair for work etc, and another pair halfway in between the two that i might as well give the chop to. how you planning on wearing them? I'm leaning towards pairing them with the surf sound lows, instead of slightly turning up the hem like i normally do.

I'm surprised about the jungle teddy. i was told that they made fewer than the sunset, but imagined that everyone was going to go wild for the sunset. was it just because harry styles borrowed it once in la? i bought the sunset because i prefer it, but have realized after having it for a few days that I'm not going to wear it as much as i would like because its pretty fucking loud. the jungle with its darker tones is only slightly more wearable. plus i think it'll be fun for the first time ever to not either wear a leather, denim or blazer for SS.

fuck mr p.

Welp! I Received my first pair of SLP denim today and the button was detached. Luckily I got sizing right first try thanks to @Jbidwal @echau @cyc wid it but unfortunately my size is now out of stock online. Obviously I returned them and hesitant to re order but I'm sure this was just very unlucky on my part and doesn't happen often. Nonetheless absolutely unreal looking jeans and the fit is spot on. ( SS16 black waxed D02)

Thanks, neonrider.  When you say "produced just after the original", are you referring the standard L17?  Thanks!

Yeah, I had a similar situation. It's nice to have some variation in the ranks. Mine were already slightly cropped and tapered, so the fraying really catches the eye now. I'm not entirely sure yet, but I remember noticing every look in the AW16 show had the raw hems, so I think you can use them with pretty much anything. They'll definitely go well with the Surf Sound sneakers.

I was planning all of last fall on getting the sunset teddy as well but I just don't know how much I'll end up wearing it.

Also, it looks like Mr P are getting in more of the jungle teddy. There's a wish list feature on the sold out page that usually means they'll be re-stocking that product.
