can you tell the black leather is the wider shaft?

the shaft isn't really that much wider to start with but its probably cuz I wear 39.5 in leather and 39 in suede

just for anyone who wonder how they look

also looking for comment on how it looks on me :D

SLP jeans don't have that crazy taper and combined with shoe size it doesn't seem obvious that the boots have a wider shaft than FW13.

Overall proportions look good! If you had to change anything, it would be the stacks. It seems a bit messy and the photo is somehow giving me a CCP vibe. Your photo does remind me the rehearsal pictures of the FW13 show though.

what the fuck is going on here? someone please say something interesting. based on the past few pages, it looks like the hype train might be passing on. some stragglers appear to be buying wyatts and d02s, and pretending to complain that it's not as good as aw13.

resell value seems to be dropping. items are sticking around on grailed for longer. even the more prominent guys on here haven't bought as much ss16 stuff.

also, the point of all of this stuff is not that it fits perfectly. have a look at any of the shows, shirts are kind of oversized, blazers often hang past the shoulders a bit. jeans fit all over the place. only the palladium show was to my mind about perfect tailoring etc. hedi mentioned it in that interview too. so fuck it if the shaft of the boot sticks out a touch. want a slimmer shaft? buy some jods. wish d02s were more tapered? buy a different pair of jeans.

i've bought tons of ss16 stuff, this thread is just a train wreck. all this obsession over 1cm of jeans/boot shafts, newbies with very little idea what they're talking about.

as someone (scanner?) said a few pages back, just buy a raw pair and destroy it. the idea that cheaper jeans are going to fit the same or better is pure fiction, the fabric and construction is what sets sl apart. not as good as dior, but waaaayyy better than the budget brands. that said, it's perfectly cool to rock a pair of april77's with your sl. go for it. but do we need to discuss it endlessly?

ss16 a great collection, one of hedi's best. this thread on the other hand is a reflection of the hype cycle overtaking the reality.

personally, one of the things i like the most is the oversized slouchy fits. beautifully tailored and thought out.

This thread has turned into John Elliott 2.0

Pretty sure most of the new posters are dressed by the internet and have probably never set foot in a boutique or are new to luxury, but don't want to pay the luxury prices. Grailed is a classic example. I've put a few things up on there but decided it wasn't worth it due to all the low ballers.

Take a look at the KanyeToThe thread for a few good laughs. Kids buying SLP denim due to the steal price of $150 even though the jeans are hemmed to 25" inseam and butchered. Kind of reminds me of ten years ago when kids were buying butchered Dior jeans because they saw a picture of Kanye or Beckham wearing them.

And Like NeonRider, I too have spent a fortune on SS16 - One of my favorite seasons yet. Most of the new posters are so fixated on being dressed by the internet and still obsessing over FW13 Wyatt's vs FW15 that you fail to realize that Kering has  taken over complete control of their factories as of Summer 15. Sunglasses are no longer made by Safilo, Boots and shoes are also manufactured under stricter conditions. Personally, this season I've bought a new leather rider, Plenty of Buttons ups and Jeans, Sneakers, boots and Sweaters. Lots of great underrated pieces at really good prices as well.

^ you said it. in fact, i think i've bought the most from this collection since fw14. the shirts and leathers are insanely good, on another level entirely from what even hedi's done before.

i'll post some pics to get us back on track when i have a sec smile.gif

btw, some of those pics are great examples how not to wear an sl leather. i.e. one, two, three sizes big. what's the point? you might as well buy a schott.

@neonrider  @scanner thanks for restoring the faith in my internet friends. I'm waiting on my jungle and sunset teddy and ill throw up some pics. i had a chance to grab the jungle teddy early, but slept on it and now I'm having a hard time tracking one down in my size. that said i have a lead or two that might come through in the next couple of days. totally underrated are the new sneakers. i wear them way more than i expected. look cool with the l01 and all black everything instead of suede boots e.g.

no ones been singled out or bashed. but this has been a much more interesting thread and it'd be nice if it remained worth returning too.

It seems to me that part of this comment may be addressed to my own remarks. Even if that isn't the case, I still take issue with this claim because in my experience, fabric and construction are exactly where the Saint Laurent D02s fall very short. Obviously I may have had a poor experience (I have two pairs, both from Fall '15)--but I still think it's worth keeping in mind.

Unless we're willing to go into where SLP sources its fabric and where the jeans are manufactured, it's going to be very hard for you to defend SLP denim against companies that specialize in making jeans. I'm thinking here of Naked & Famous on the lower end all the way to Momotaro and other brands on the higher end. Note, also, that almost all of these jeans are "cheaper" than Saint Laurent's offerings in terms of price.

Slapping "Made in Italy/Japan" on the jeans doesn't mean much. Slapping "Saint Laurent Paris" does bring with it a price premium, which cannot be discounted as "pure fiction" any more than you can arbitrarily dismiss "cheaper jeans" in terms of their fit.

And on that note: fit? The exact same pair of jeans is going to fit five people five different ways. Look at the bulkier people a few pages ago trying to force themselves into D02/skinnies instead of going with slim jeans. Go with the jeans that work for you.

Returning to my poor experience with SLP: I gave my D02s and my R&B Fit 0s roughly the same amount of wear over roughly a similar period of time (in fact I wore the latter a good bit more). The SLPs bagged out in the knees, and the leg opening stretched enough to be a bother. The R&Bs have done neither. They therefore fit me better. I'm not going to say one is better than the other, but I am going to say that "cheaper" in price doesn't necessarily mean cheaper in quality and--most importantly--fit.

Now, if this thread wants mere fandom--that's fine.

indeed, some jeans fit others better. i remain committed that having a pair of d02s altered for free can take them above the rest, and otherwise agree that off the shelf they might not be perfect. so get them altered, or don't. I've yet to be as impressed by a black pair of denim that is as black, maybe its the polyurethane, but it seems to make a huge difference. that subtle sheen is super cool. and the damn brass rivets--too cool.

intelligent criticism is welcome and encouraged.

i think the s16 sale might be awesome.

I think the sneakers are my fav from this season too. They look great with just about anything boots look good with

respect @Jbidwal it would be great to see or to talk about how people are working in ss16 pieces into their existing wardrobe. all I've done so far is wear the sneakers instead of boots. when the weather warms up ill start doing the souvenir jackets instead of leather/teddy or blazer as i have previously. i also really like wearing the ripped flannel under permanent outerwear. subtle nods to the surf stuff is really cool.

anyone have any luck with the hawaiian shirts? i like them as objects, but look like a tool in them.
