+1

I couldn't buy them as they are clunky as shit! My AE's feel like slippers compared to the Ludlow wing tips.

PSA for the Toronto brethren: Sherway Gardens just open their JCrew store.

I'm a TTS 31 waist so I'm about to buy some 30x30 pants. Do other people agree on the stretching? I don't want to buy something too small and then regret it later.

Yes J Crew pants stretch in the waist by about 1-1.5 sizes, in my experience.

Hey can any jcrew gurus tell me how suff made in china holds up versus mauritius?

I wanted so get some oxfords and it looks like the:

sun-faded oxfords are made in china

while

the Tonal Oxfords are made in mauritius

I have a few of the Tonal ones and they are exceptional.

Will the sun faded ones be as good?

for the life of me I can't figure out why they vary the measurements all the damn time

just measured the arm lengths of a new shirt

left arm is 25.75 while right is 26.25

wtf

So what's the best way to get discount ludlow suits? I already have a jcrew card so I can't do the initial 10% discount.

Sounds pretty bad, I would exchange it. QA seems pretty out of wack. I experienced this with them in the last year or so as well.

10% is laughable. Look for sales that allow for stacking.

I personally wouldn't buy a J. Crew suit or sport coat if I can't get it for at least half off retail. I've gotten two Harris tweed sport coats, a suit, and a seersucker jacket so far with said or greater discount.

they have a respectable customer service. e-mailed them today and got this back within a few hours

"I'm so sorry to hear we sent you an item in this condition, and I'd be more than happy to resolve this issue for you. I've already refunded for the total amount of the shirt ($67.45) to a gift card. I honored the return to a gift card, because I currently don't have a method of payment for you, and couldn't credit your Paypal account - if you need this changed however, please feel free to give us a call referencing this order number and let us know the card you'd like to be refunded. If you do want the gift card, it is currently being shipped to your address on xxxx, and should arrive in the next 6-8 business days.

In regards to the defective item you have, feel free to either ship this back to us or take it back to any retail store (just make sure it's not a Factory location). If you need to ship this back to us, just let us know if you need a return label (along with confirmation of both your billing and email address).

Let us know if you'd like to place an exchange order, if you do, we can make sure that the item we ship out will be double checked for quality so this doesn't happen again. Feel free to include any other questions or concerns you may have - we're always happy to help!"

Expect 40%

Can possibly get 50% online.

Might be possible to get 10% student to double on that if you order instore from online catalouge

Student discount is actually 15 percent and can be stacked on final sales items. I've done this numerous times. The additional 50 percent seems to be rare now though 40 percent off is quite common.

@TyCooN I had a similar experience with a sweater that had a seam come apart. They were very gracious.

Also FYI you might want to block out your address in the e-mail you copied.

Jacket is 299.99. Pants is $149.99. Additional 40 percent off and 15 percent off for student.

Jacket is item 07170.
Pants is item 07172.

Thanks for the tip. The rep. in the store helped size me for both pieces, then ordered it over the phone. Ended up paying less than $250.

I'll probably be wearing them separately most of the time - the jacket as a sportcoat, and the pants for fun.

I thought the coupon codes always excludes suitting?

I need to pay more attention

Wore it for the first time today. This fits pretty slim compared to other Ludlows I tried on. The jacket didn't need to be taken in at all. The pants inseam are 32", but fit more like 30".
