Rank these designer brands polo shirts?

Where would you rank these polo shirt brands?

To be honest a ranking will be more than difficult as most people won't have tried all of them. I figure it depends quite a bit on the preferred style, the design within the brand, the material,...

For me personally I like the classic look of Ralph Lauren, as well as Tommy Hilfighers double collar one.

Lacoste as the inventor of Polo Shirts is not bad either.

Boss is just an attempt to copy Ralph Lauren. Fred Perry looks horrible and in my opinion is not a proper Polo shirt at all.

I haven't tried Canterbury, BB, Penguin or Burberry yet so no judgement on those.

Abercrombie and Fitch are not proper Polo shirts either.

Of the ones I've tried:

Ralph Lauren 1. Solely for the classic mesh shirts in custom fit because if fit and durability.
Lacoste 2. I have had shrinkage issues and shirts that have started to come apart after one season.
Abercrombie and Fitch
Tommy Hilfiger 3. Their vintage shirts (crest logo) are/were better quality than the newer ones (flag logo) are.
Boss
Fred Perry
Nautica 4. For lower quality and tent-like fit
Penguin
Brooks Brother
Canterbury
Burberry 5. Not a fan of novacheck plackets

Actually, Polo is a trademark of RL that he uses under agreement from BB as BB was the first to use the name. The name actually refers to the button-down collars that BB introduced after seeing polo players in England with such a device to keep the collars from blowing in their faces during polo matches.

That being said, I can't deal with logos on my chest so I have very few Polos. I have a few BB without logos. I am 6'1 size 44. If I purchase BB "M" it actually fits the way I like so that it what I use (when I can find logo-less shirts.)

So is it safe to say the top three Polo Shirt Brands are

Ralph Lauren
Lacoste
Tommy Hilfiger

Most popular yes. But if you are talking in terms of construction/fabric quality then that is a completely different story.

Who are your ranks, in term of construction/fabric quality?

I've worn Perry and LaCoste. Both fit me well and were durable.
Ten to 15 years ago Thomas Pink made excellent mesh shirts,
a bit heavier than La Coste. They were perfect fo my build.
The line was discontinued in the early 2000s. My current recommendation
is LL Bean mesh Polos. Inexpensive, high quality (so far) and again,
the right proportions for me.

Yeh, that's what I was thinking. Polo shirts like t-shirts are a bit of a commodity thing, I think. Suppose it depends who's logo you like the best.

Of that list, I only own RL, but compared to Express polos they're amazing. I'm interested to try some BB, but I've decided I don't like logos, even on my polo shirts. I'm going to get some Kent Wang polos at some point, once some of my others start to wear out.

Yup, just use them and throw them out--but please no logos or popped collars.

Also, to add to the list, BBBF has very nice polos with no chest logo and a sewn-on patch in the lower left corner and can easily be removed or tucked in. Nice MOP buttons and details as well as hefty weaves. I highly recommend those.

I was at a Lacoste store and RL store and the Lacoste polos felt like they were made with more quality material and worth the price over the RL. I might get one

Does anyone know if the Lacoste polos get stretched? I don't want to buy a hundred dollar polo just for it to stretch out and become 2 sizes larger

RL polos are made in many different materials ranging from their "tissue" models (very luxurious, thin, smooth feel) to their hard-wearing mesh polos. The Lacoste polos are made with a finer cloth than RL's mesh polos but they do not stand up to wear as to the RL polos.
