Thanks a mill for that link. I see photos all over the internet claiming to be 'classic' or 'modern' fits, but I have never been able to properly judge whether they are. I now know what SF sees as the classic and ideal suiting look.

 

Most importantly, I can look at that thread and look at the photos I have and can now work towards something.

Very happy to help but I want to make it clear that just because the styles around here are considered "classic," and you find a lot of negativity towards the Hollywood cut, doesn't make it a bad thing to choose that as your personal image. It's clear the kid was going for a certain look, an unpopular one around here, but it doesn't make it any more appropriate to dress in a traditional way if it isn't you.

Even though we all tend to agree on what a suit should and shouldn't be doesn't mean you have to accept that either... it just might get someone's hand bit if they expect to come on SF and post those pictures looking for positive reinforcement.

Don't choose what's right for you based on a bunch of internet know-it-alls (even though they may actually know it all).

Greetings Styleforum.  I am new here.... My name is Brian I am from Toronto Canada.  I ironically came across this forum accidentally trying to google reviews for Elite Suits.  I am the Canadian that recently placed the $2500 order with Simon.  After reading his website/blog.  I took a leap of faith and placed my order.  It Consist of 3 x 3 piece Fully Handstitched Canvassed Suits, 3 Egyptian Cotton Shirts, 3 Pairs of Trousers and an Overcoat.  I have not submitted my measurements yet, as I have a custom suit that I am having made locally (Holt Renfrew Coppley MTM).  I plan on using the measurements from that suit and send them to Simon.  I plan on having Simon make me some TOM FORD inspired suits with a similar cut, Wide Peak Lapels, 3 roll 2, Surgeon Cuffs with 5 Buttonholes, Trousers with no belt loops and side tabs.  I will be submitting my measurements this weekend.  Simon has been great with his communication.  I am very excited to see how my first Elite Suit order goes! If anyone is interested I can let you know how the process and the results of the final products.  I have to mention by no means am I affiliated or have purchased anything from Elite Suits in the past.

I've been in contact with Simon and will likely be ordering a suit this weekend. Going to take advantage of the free shirt deal with the relatively cheap Bejing collection suit (with full canvass option). Just waiting to get my measurements sorted out (want to have a few samples to average) and will let you guys know how it goes.

I've got a few other suits to compare against, corneliani (full canvass), dolce&gabbana (half canvass) and saba (fused shit ;) )

Will do a bit of a writeup as soon as it arrives...after I order it first ;)

All I can say is that so far, Simon has been amazingly helpful with fabric suggestions and further information on construction, certainly have more confidence about the purchase. Part of me even wonders if a simple website, very little explanation of terms and maybe one image each for the different cuts would be enough.
