Sport coat for European travels...

The navy blazer is the classic American sport coat, but is it appropriate for Europe? My upcoming trips will be a mixture of business and pleasure (sightseeing, dining, day trips,etc.). Destinations include London, Paris, Zurich and Vienna over a two-week period next month.

I will bring two suits (blue and gray) for business meetings and dress-up evenings. I am looking to complement them with a sport coat and odd trousers for more casual occasions. If the navy blazer is not the best option, what do you suggest? I'm looking for something that would blend in rather than stand out from the crowd.

Thanks in advance!

There might be regional differences, but in the Nordic countries at least a navy blazer and gray trousers would be considered a classic look. I would not hesitate to wear the combination in Germany, Austria, or Italy.

The blazer with jeans or informal trousers is fine.

A blue blazer will be common for casual wear in most European countries, especially in the larger ones, but few will wear a tie with it nowadays, which doesn't mean one should omit the tie, of course :)

+1... Blue blazer and jeans is a common look. It may be a bit chilly by the end of next month (at least here), so I'd bring a couple of sweaters as well.
