and dark brown museum; I could easily and nicely survive with just these two pair of shoes)…

here are my Bison William II's... sorry for the crappy iphone quality.

I like it on the 888 for a more polished look, or the 202 with a double-sole for a semi-casual feel.

I have the Westminsters black calf on 888.  They're wonderful  I don't think the toe is square at all.

my favorite monks, in order....

1. EG Westminster on 888
2. Carmina Salinger
3. John Lobb William II

...and this is from someone that owns the William II.

I'm thinking about getting a new pair of double monks and was looking for suggestions.  I want to pay somewhere in the $300 range, I would pay more but I am also buying a pair of boots from Allen Edmonds.  I have looked at the ones from Meermin but I don't know a lot about the brand.  I had a pair of Antonio Maurizi I got from Gilt, but I didn't care for them.  For the money I paid, I wasn't impressed.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Stay away from double skunks, they're fugly looking. They remind me of the shoes I had to wear when I was 5.

I'm in the same boat,  I have a bit of a wide foot so that adds another layer of difficulty for me.  I'm currently considering the AS Ramsey.  Anyone have any thoughts about those? Currently on sale over at afinepairofshoes.co.uk

No no you're confused. When you were five you had velcro. Dubs come with 2 buckles each. It's much harder to navigate. You must not have been successful and need to simply insert your foot into a loafer and go.
