Well, ya. It's Cheesecake Factory. You might as well be ordering bruschetta at Hooters.

I'm so going to have to try this. I just bought some applewood smoked cheddar and was going to make a mac & cheese with it... but if I have leftovers, it's going into fat bastard popcorn!

Mahi Mahi is my poison. Usually it's blackened or grilled when it's made as an entrée. If I just want a sandwich it'll be blackened with lettuce, tomato, and cajun remoulade à la gordon biersch.

Pollo Ad Astra pizza at Pizza Express is good. Closer to home I like Ivar's salmon chowder. Where'd you get your crab cakes, Conny? I think the West Coast definitely has the East beat when it comes to crab.

Definitely - Dungeness crab is also one of my all time favorites. Just a pile of Dungeness legs and melted butter would do me just fine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Over on the East coast I tried (supposedly the best, whatever kind that is) lobster, and it can't even compare. Too sweet for me, the texture isn't as good.

I had them a few times, but I think the best were the ones I ordered at Dahlia Lounge. Also had some in this multi-story restaurant in the Market that were quite good (and reasonably priced).

bruschetta is pronounced "bruce"-"ketta" NOT "broo"-"shetta". in italian, the letters "ch" make a "k" sound, as in pinocchio, gnocchi, or chianti. if you are one of the many people, including italian americans, who mispronounce this word, please stop. you now have no excuse.

also, there is no such thing as a panini. the word for sandwich is panino, and it refers to any type of sandwich, not necessarily an italian one. the plural form of panino, is panini.

similarly, the word salsa means "sauce" in spanish and italian. it can be hot sauce, ketchup, bbq sauce, hollandaise sauce, steak sauce, you get the picture. please stop refering to any mexican condiment as simply 'salsa'. they have names.

end rant.

Im in agreement with you here man, Nothin pisses me off more than hearing people say Eyetalian, instead of Italian.

i don't take it personally when someone corrects me, and i don't consider it 'going off' on me. on the contrary, if i mispronounce a common, everyday word, over and over, please correct me.

when i meet someone from a foreign country i often ask them to teach me a word or two, so that i may try and pronounce it the way they do. for example, i know how to say 'pancakes' and 'kermit the frog' in dutch. i'm often complemented on how well i can say these words, like a true dutchman. i've also been complemented by frenchmen on how well i read french, with the french cadence, etc... in my eyes it's simply a matter of caring. nothing more.

Wow that is random! I'm sure there's a story behind it... do tell!

The Food Coma Trio:
Large Bag of Spicy Nacho Doritos
Large Pizza from my favorite pizzeria
1 entire bag of Chips Ahoy Soft Baked cookies with 32oz FF milk

You are then unable to do anything for the next 4-5 hours due to food lethargy. And yes, I am able to eat all of that in one sitting. It's my monthly cheat meal.

It's kind of hard to fuck up "9 course tasting menu, please."

Ah... lets see:

Bacon, number one, no substitutions, alterations or questions allowed. I like it crisp, I like it soggy, I like it in "bits". I like it the bacon.

Gouda - IMO the king of all cheeses.

GOOD fried chicken. Ezelles is #1 in Oprah's book, so its number one in mine too. (never argue with Oprah, she'll have you killed)

Kurobuta Hirekatsu - My dad makes it, the best I've ever had outside home was at Maisen, in Tokyo.

Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. Best.Candy.Bar.Ever.

A good pepperoni pizza (with the little, spicier thick pepperoni that cups a little when its cooked, , not the big thin flat ones.) on a hand-tossed buttermilk parmesan crust, whole milk mozzerella, and fresh, vine-ripened, slow cooked tomato sauce.

Gindara Kasuzuke and coffee jello from the Japanese restaraunt near my house.

Unagi and shou niku / torikawa yakitori from the street vendors in Tokyo during the summer months. mmmm

BBQ ribs and brisket. The ribs should be pork, the brisket, beef. I like both dry and wet, with a slight preference for wet.

Medium rare pork chops. I like living on the edge.

Aquitaine Steak - Grilled flatiron steak cloaked in a red wine demiglace and topped with bleu cheese. Delish!

Corn on the cob. Plenty of butter and seasoning salt.

Potatoes Au Gratin - yet another favorite dish of mine that contains cheese...

Ceasar Salad - All hail salad!

Broiled lobster tail with butter. Unlike J, I prefer it to crab.

Eggs Benedict/Eggs Monroe (a variation on the benedict served with lox instead of ham, and with whole capers in the hollandaise.)

I think thats enough for now

no... I'm sure most of the pretensious assholes will try to correctly say "Bordeaux" or, "foie gras", and completely fuck it up.
