I had the opportunity to wear a dressy pair of 2 eyelet Aurum derbies Antonio made me for the first time last week at a charity event.

They are awesome. Very comfortable on the first wear.

so besides the difference in the last, what difference have you guys noticed from the standard line MTO to the Aurum?

Does anyone have one of each to compare side by side?

I have two pair of Aurum and they are both beautiful.

Cannot speak for standard MTO.

I'm just curious because it seems that there is quite a big difference in cost but I don't know the details that justify the cost besides the last yet.

I think it would be great to try out one and then the other to compare, but any info that someone has would be appreciated!

Is the boot you are having made, the exact same style or did you ask for some minor changes? (besides the color of course)

aurum are hand-made, hand-stitched, hand-welted.

mto aren't hand welted and i doubt hand stitched...

No, this doesn't sound right. His standard line is handwelted, too.

Yes. Aurum line is made to his bespoke standards in terms of materials used and construction. Per Antonio, his "standard" line is comparable to G&G & EG, but his are hand welted and better finishing...so basically a notch above.

Correct, only test shoes are goodyear welted. Others from both the main line and aurum are all handwelted.

I asked for jodhpurs for the Aurum pair. Antonio said he'll make the test pair as oxford boots without a medallion.
