There is daring and there is inappropriate. Sorry but you look like a waiter in this jacket. At most weddings people won't understand what statement you are making. You are wearing a jacket that draws attention to yourself and this is not your wedding. It is someone elses. Therefore you are upstaging the groom and showing disrespect to him on the most important day of his life and that is a no-no. You should be wearing something that blends in with the crowd and respectfully allows the Bride and Groom and their families to be the focus of their own event. Wear this jacket for cocktails elsewhere if you must.

Wear a morning suit, since to most people wearing a tux is equivelent of a wearing a halloween costume, might as well be in for a pound and wear the morning suit.

morning suits don't appeal to me at all. i thought about going that route, but it's just not for me. i have never seen anyone look particularly dashing or handsome in a morning suit.they don't look regal to me, even thought apparently they are

I'm flashy, which is why i didn't make a thread requesting help to subdue my taste for the upcoming wedding. I want my personality to come through in choice of attire

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it already, but if you are going with the tux, I trust this will be an evening wedding. At least with the tux, you can buy something halfway decent without breaking the bank, and you might, depending on your circumstances, get some use out it afterwards.

Rental morning attire is going to look bloody awful in all likelihood. I wore it for one of my three weddings, and, as I have not infrequently mentioned in this forum, I looked like costume doofus.

If you are having a daytime wedding, get a really nice suit, if you don't have one already. You should be able to get plenty of mileage out of it subsequently, whatever your station in life.

So, not a real Quaker.
In that case, the universal advice is:
"Dress British, and think Yiddish"
Flashy is declasse'.

You should do the full Dracula. White tie attire. Long black cape, royal sash, spats, top hat.


If not then maybe yohji could make you a tux?
