What items in your closet have you gotten insane amounts of use from?

You may have hesitated buying because it was expensive... but in hindsight, it was a grand slam purchase b/c you wore the heck out of it. Either it lasted forever and/or it was so versatile you constantly had the opportunity to wear it (home, office, travel, etc) In the end, it was worth every penny, and dollar for dollar it was the best money you've spent on clothing b/c you used it so often.

For me, I think it's my Cheaney FS029 boots. I paid about $290 + $100 VAT, and I wear these 3 seasons a year. I wear them at the office and on weekends. I have gotten more than my money's worth, and they are still going strong. This was a great purchase.

The other was my Banana Republic cardigan. I paid $100 and have worn it regularly for 5 years. It is still going strong. This was a great purchase.

What about you?

Maybe these are a little more SW&D but for me three things stand out: Loake Litchfields (beat the hell out of these last winter and they still look great), Barbour Beaufort jacket, and Edwin ED-47 raw selvedge jeans.

I have worn the hell out of my Beaufort whenever I travel -- from the glacier in the Canadian Rockies duirng early winter, to the city streets in Europe in spring, summer and fall. It used to be my Burberry trench, but I found the Beaufort to be more versatile.

Also, my rubber soled Ferragamo (not SF approved, I know) loafers which are convenient going thru airports and comfortable walking on cobble stone streets.

Navy blazer and grey fannel pants also.

Hopsack blue blazer
White linen PS
Blue OCBD
Simple sterling cufflinks
Blue end-on-end dress shirt
Brown punch cap oxfords
Charcoal grey single breasted
Filson tan duffel

All thoroughly unexciting things, which I think is the point.

I guess my Timerland boots and the belt that I had made for myself. Quite a weird combo though.
