Not really SF wear.

Try it with a black silver or bright red tie (I have seen those) but don't expect anyone to like it here.

I know I've ripped off this line from Esquire before on this forum, but it seems particularly appropriate here.

Before wearing your black suit with a black shirt, pre-treat them by throwing them away.

Asides from proper fit there really isn't anyway to screw up this look, its just black on black. Although this look isn't liked here its very hard to get wrong because theres no color clashing you have to worry about etc.

You can search for more specific information, but I will attempt to summarize: black suits should generally not be worn for business, and should be avoided during the day. At night, some consider them acceptable. A black shirt is universally regarded as awful. It creates no contrast with the (usually) dark suit (black or otherwise), and the different-but-similar shades of black (pure black is impossible) look terrible together. They are usually worn (horribly) by people who are trying to be trendy and "fashion foward."
