Looking for suggestions in color combinations of a shirt and tie to coordinate with my new rust colored sports jacket. I'm half and half on the lavender accents.

Thank you!

Looks like a nice jacket. Just be sure to give it a little tug before taking pictures or going out or whatever so that the collar fits a bit better.

I'm against the lavender, especially against matching a lavender tie and a lavender shirt. This being a rustic, fall/winter jacket, put it together with rustic, fall/winter fabrics and colors. Like these ties:

For shirts, a textured light blue is always a win. Just lean away from baby blue and more towards cooler blues. Also check out some tattersalls.

good advice on tugging the jacket just before the shot as well as getting up from sitting down etc. etc., this will certainly ensure a nice clean fit with no space between the jacket and shirt collar.

Are you referring to a check or stripe or some sort of pattern when suggesting a textured shirt or something a little more subtle, but more than a solid?

Thanks for the suggestions!!

A very light pink shirt can also work with a rust jacket, then pair it with a dark grey or ash colored tie.

Here's an update with a couple new ties with my rust sports jacket, as well as one of my other favorite Autumn/Winter jackets. Do any of these stand out better than the others?

Thanks for the tie recommendation unbelragazzo, I like it a lot!!

For the record, you're more handsome without those silly sun-glasses.

And I love both jackets. Not a fan of the shirt colors, but it seems ok on a purely aesthetic level.

+1 Take off the sunglasses, for the plaid jacket, I would go for some light blue shirts.

Wear mostly neutral-colored pieces with the rust-colored jacket. Maybe colorful stripes on the shirt or tie would be okay. Don't match the tie and pocket square.

No offense, but your shirt tie pairings are horrible. Stay away from tone on tone, and the tie should be darker than the shirt. That striped wool tie is wonderful with the jacket, but it comes nowhere close to working with the orange shirt. And that pastel purple stuff doesn't even belong in the same room as that jacket.

You need to go with primarily white shirts for a while, or shirts with a white ground. White with checks or stripes, though plain white is easiest.

You'll probably do well with more autumnal colors and textures with the ties, too. You seem to like pastels, which is fine, but not really for fall. A matte yellow or an orange (but only with a white shirt!) if you want to stick with light stuff, but you'll probably be better served with burgundy or navy. Charcoal or black (with some pattern) could work nicely too.

The rust jacket is something really hard to find and you w ould have wait almost Fall before retailers release that kind of color.

Much better, but that tie doesn't provide enough contrast in the second and third pictures.
