There's a real aversion amongst some on this forum to any kind of dandyism and foppishness. It's a shame because these are both part of the great variety of men's style. If you can't see that the Phineas Cole suit is beautiful, and you seriously prefer the shoddy Men's Warehouse thing, then I would suggest that actually you are missing a significant part of what constitutes (and has always constituted) male style. I am not asking everyone here to give up their CBD and become a Dandy. I am not asking anyone else to wear this suit. I am not even asking anyone else even to say that they prefer it on this occasion - that is your choice and the choice we have been given is contextual and my context is not yours. But the inability to understand why someone else with an interest in style might prefer the PC suit, suggests not a a better aesthetic sense but simply a rather narrow view of what constitutes style, seemingly based entirely (or largely) on colour.
And, as it happens, I like the colour of the PC suit but this is also partly a product of the combination with the texure of the fabric and the cut. The same colour in flat textured, badly cut sack like the MW one might be even worse than the brown. Likewise, I might prefer a brown PC suit in the same fabric and cut. But we have here a choice between one high quality, well finished suit in a lovely fabric which happens to be red, and one thing which is half-way to being a sack, which is brown. I'll repeat again, I don't have to follow CBD rules where I work, so there is no pressure on me to chose something crap and I can peacock a little if I want. And if I had to wear something like that Men's Warehouse thing every day, I'd almost rather quit my job...
