Well, that Bourdain episode on Croatia actually made me really want to check it out.

Anyone have experience with Air BNB by the way? Several friends have said it exceeded their expectations and the prices are unreal. I found a really nice looking cottage with a view of the city center of Siena that has a/c for less than $100/day.

Heard good things about it. Do the reviews check out on that cottage?

I don't think you'll need A/C. You can always sleep naked (but you'll likely not have to, if you don't want... shouldn't be that hot around that time of the year). So I wouldn't ignore cottages without. After all, you're somewhat used to heat.

Easier to double check the health of the flora of outer parts of the body that way?

Re Croatia: For some reason I think it would be cool to see it before it enters the EU. Not sure why though.

You are correct.

My grandfather is from Croatia. Never been there though.
Actually, we should own quite a lot of land in Croatia. It's been occupied during WWII and from '45 til '91 they weren't able to reclaim it. Why they didn't try afterwards, I'm not sure.

They let your family into Germany with that suspect lineage?

As to the whole cash deal. Just use ATM's wherever you are. They don't screw you on the FX rate like the counters do and you only have to pay that $2-$5 fee from both machines. I'm convinced I could open a mom and pop FX counter and still make a lot of money.

M, mazal tov on your engagement.

Unless you're desperate for beach time, I agree with foodguy that you should consider Umbria.
slovenia is this year's austria. makes sense ... they're right across the border from friuli. i remember visiting friuli and hearing guns from slovenia! same varietals, largely same flavor profile (white wines with a lot of steel and grip). lots of somms are picking them up now as a stump the chump for wine geeks.

say thank you
i've never stayed here but i've eaten here many times. the restaurant is an old barn, everything is off the grill. they do a grilled cacciocavallo that is just amazing (ball of hard cheese, slice of prosciutto stuck in it, put on grill in roasting pan until it's just melting). also, great quail. and they do that umbrian pasta that's extruded ... bombolli or something like that.
