well the wife has an LV speedy and I just got her a wallet to go with it ... anniversary gift ..

as a gift for myself for losing 125+ lbs i got myself a damier brown LV belt as well

i was thinking about gettin the wallet to match (matchy matchy i know LOL)

but how well do they hold up?

ive had a coach one now for about 4 years and its been awesome .. its nicely broken in, no tears, no seperation ... id hate to spend $465 or so on a LV wallet only to have it seperate in a year .. ive read bad and good online and its hard to compare.. no doubt someone posting that they have had their wallet for 20 yrs got a slightly better made piece 20yrs ago than we can buy at the store today ..

anyways .. supposing i wanna spend anywhere from 50-500 for a wallet, what do you recomend? i almost like a little flash since my wardrobe stays mostly bland, the little accesories are fun to enjoy colors or patterns with ... i wouldnt mind blue, but i do really like the damier print even though there is so much fake LV out there .. i hope i look like id have the real thing LOL ...

THANKS!

not hot on the Vanetta design ... thinkin about LV honestly, but ive heard they dont last .. i really actually like the coach one i have because its broken in SOOO nicely .. but the light colored interior looks horrible its all stained up etc..

ill check out the CDG zip wallet

burberry could be good too .. hmm ... just something about this damier pattern now that i have the belt would be fun to match ... id settle on a good used one even .. maybe i can post here lookin for one ..

maybe even the red gucci one thats comin out

more ideas?

Even if you truly, genuinely, independently and objectively "just like" the damier design, wearing it you will be inseparable from the teeming masses of tasteless trendwhores desperate to be seen in LV, the "ultimate luxury brand" and "the most expensive shizz in the world, yo (that's why Kanye loves it cuz it's classy!)"

+1. If he's crazy about a repeating type pattern or logo, go for something like Goyard, Pierre Hardy, or Franzi (though franzi may not be in business anymore)

to the OP: LV's problem is not durability or that it won't hold up. It'll hold up just fine. The problem is that it's a $400 canvas wallet, of which $42 are wallet, and $358 is branding. Second is that it is a wallet that is highly faked, and even when authentic is not particularly unique, rare, or superlative. Damier 10-15 years ago flew under the radar, but these days (as Golden Tribe says) it's as ubiquitous as the monogram.

I'd avoid, but it seems like you've already made up your mind and just want justification for it. In that case, buy the LV.

Also, realize that LV laughs all the way to the bank with its canvas stuff. They've raised the price so many times on the same items with no changes to the quality or workmanship that it's now nearly a joke. That $465 wallet was probably $230 back in the mid 2000s.

the more i think about it and the more i look the more i think about somethin else ..

somethin more flashy LOL .. id like some color .. the zip wallets are cool ..

so lets step away from the LV idea for a moment ... i also agree its FAR overpriced!

lets talk leather, interesting pattern or color, and something that might last 10 years .. i LOVE things once ive worn em in!

Take a look at Goyard. I don't like it, personally, but it's well made and has some flash. Look especially beyond the "regular" brown version... they also make a lovely navy blue! (also a red, a yellow, and a green)

valextra makes some nice things with color/"pop" that don't rely on a monogram nobody should care about.
