I'm a huge fan of Japanese food, I usually go out at least once per week for it. Last night I had one of the best Chirashi bowls I've ever had, and some baked green muscles with masago.

I love all the donburimono. Oyakodon is a favorite. Apparently that is very easy to make as well. I should try making Oyakodon with my chicken breast.

cool, donburi is a japanese staple.

oyako means "parent and child"--a somewhat graphic description of having chicken and egg together.

an interesting fact about chicken in japan. chicken breast is the least popular type of chicken meat since it is the least flavorful. it's cheap and the dark meat is more expensive.

japanese people are surprised to find that the opposite is true over here.

i wouldn't get caught up about whether your chicken is breast or not, unless you really like it.

also, don't worry too much about the mercury levels in fish. you probably don't eat enough to have high levels.

Yea, I always thought "parent and child" was a little morbid. Kind of makes it more fun.

Yeah just limit the soy intake because it shrinks your penis.

hahaha. soy does have estrogen-like properties and can have adverse affect in males. but if you're eating THAT much soy where the effect is even noticeable... you need to re-evaluate what you're eating.

an update: I've gained about 2 pounds I think so far. My jeans are actually noticeably tighter around my butt, which is cool with me because I wanted to gain weight in my legs mostly. also noticing a 6-pack starting to develop.

Looks like I just needed to put a few more calories and a bit more water in my diet.

Isn't it my sig? God hates soy!!

Congrats on the progress Brian, as an aside I also need to get back into shape as I'm developping a creamy middle (still skinny just not as much as I'd like, too much good food and not enough running around) so I'll start training again this week. Probably do like 1-2 weeks of cardio then add some weight lifting after that. Thankfully I don't drink soda, eat much fast food or sweets so this should be relatively easy.
