Have you guys noticed that the ties have gone up in price? Or it could be the sinking Canadian dollar...
Well, the company did buy that shirt factory that makes Cleeve of London-tagged items for Drake's alone, and loans must be paid back somehow. There are always sales, you know, and you'll only have to wait.
Serious question: have you reached out to them with your concerns?
No, I haven't. I've just taken my business elsewhere.
I liked the old Drakes because, with every collection, there'd be at least ten ties that were classic enough for business, but not boring. They had a crispness that, for me at least, just worked. Now, they seem to be catering much more to the sort of person with artfully waxed moustaches and a #menswear Instagram account, and in particular, the colours they use are, I feel, a lot less crisp and attractive. Look at the current collection's handkerchiefs, for instance. The designs are lovely, but the colour palette makes them very difficult to combine with a relatively classic suits and sports jackets wardrobe. At the same time, prices have gone very high. What used to be retail price is now the sales price. Pity, but I have already more ties than my wife says I need, and Cappelli, Hober, Chipp, Keyte, etc., provide nicer stuff at better prices.
