Hey guys,

Can somebody explain the quality difference between Drake's self lined and regular ties? What makes a self-lined tie better than a standard lined tie? Does it drape better? Heftier silk? Purely aesthetic?

Hey guys,

Drake's doesn't have exclusive patterns?

Bump. Hoping somebody can clarify.

I think you mean self tipped no? Never seen a self lined tie before I must admit. Self tipped ties do provide a bit more weight because your using the same silk for the tipping rather than what is usually a satin for the tipping (very lightweight) so I guess they could drape a bit better but in the grand scheme of things the difference would be negligible as the tipping only goes up around 5 inches on a 3 fold tie. Generally, the lining used would be the same for self tipped and satin tipped.

I've seen "self-lined" used to refer to unlined, multifold ties.

Thanks Henry. Very much appreciated.

Drake's items are on sale at the USA MrPorter site as a FYI

Porter's UK site currently has them at 30%. Not too bad for the start of the sale.

If they dropped a little more to 50%, I have my eye on one or two.

The new F/W pocket squares look damn amazing too!

So I just got my first two Drake's ties. Definitely the best foulards I've ever had. What color suit(s) would you say the blue one would go well with? I know it's blue (goes with everything) but this blue/red/gold combo has me questioning it's versatility.

Anyone knows if and when there will be a factory sale at the London Haberdasher street location like last year (22 July)? Was a great sale and don't want to miss out.

Not sure if that was in reposbe to me or not, but the factory sale is a much deeper discounted sale in their workshop only. Last year a good range of ties sold for 3 for £90

Nope, I had just gotten the email that the sale had started so I posted it. The factory sale sounds similar to the Drake's pop-up at CHCM in NYC, which was pretty ridiculous. This website sale has great stuff but the discount is pretty ho-hum, compared to some other Drake's discounters.
