GM slayer from BMW

Thread Starter
Not the most flattering picture of the newest M3, since it reminds me of the last-gen Mustang:

Floor pictures from the Geneva auto show look much better:

I'm almost afraid to find out how heavy it is since the 335i coupe is over 3600 pounds.

I dont know man, I like the e46 better in terms of looks. Only if it was a v8 pumping out 400..

Eh? BMW and GM in the same sentence? GM has other enemies closer to its heart than BMW, like those pesky Koreans, and probably soon, the Chinese. I don't think it's the best looking M3 BMW has produced, but ugliness can be forgiven for a nice V8 and a good suspension.

I think the thread title is a slight on another thread title "BMW Slayer from GM" regarding the Pontiac G8.

As for the car, it's essentially what I expected. I am pleased by the CF roof, though. Nice touch, and it's something I had been hoping for from the start. It shows that BMW realizes the car is piggish and they are going to great lengths to shave off weight where it counts.

The rear end looks better than any other current 3-series, and the front end is OK. It's not great, just OK. Although, I don't love the hood bulge. That's a little weird.

Hideous looking.

It's ok. I'd probably just save the $20Gs and get a 335i if I wanted a BMW coupe, it's plenty fast already.

I like the side view mirrors and…yeah, that’s about it…I rather just get the 335i coupe. Or a Porsche Cayman. Jon.

Looks great to me, I want one!

thanks for the pic and info.

I'd rather have this:

550HP V10; 200MPH; 0-60MPH in low 4s

Christofuh,

For what they charge for that, I'd rather have this:

Jon.

From what I gather our market gets neither Recaros nor flat-bottomed steering wheel
Generally I hate Audi seats for their use of concrete in cushion padding and that gawdawful leather.
BTW back in the day they would let you order optional Italian skins ( whose name escapes me ) for under $3K

Why is a V8 with so much horsepower that it requires electronic nannies just to keep you from killing yourself first time you jab the throttle any better than a throaty, flexible inline six, except that the Six has better innate balance than any V8?

Or for that matter, better than a high-strung 4-pot that revs delightfully and still gets you going scary fast scarily quickly?

I lost interest in the M3 after the E30. This one does look like it's competing with Pontiacs in the Tupperware Era on looks, though.

Yeah, I know about the Pontiac thread. Ditto on the hood bulge, but it's there since the E46 for a reason.
