There has been a general absence of Santoni on Styleforum, as the company exited the US Market nearly 2 years ago.

However, they made, and still make some great shoes. The higher end Santoni shoes were often described as decadent. Yes, decadent.

Let me start the thread:

The Fatte a Mano Santonis are very well constructed. The styling is, well, not for everyone.

My favorite store carries them. I have always wondered why there's not much talk about them here. If anyone wants to find someone, I'll get you in touch with a good store. He now carries Santoni exclusively.

Santoni shoes - particularly from their FAM line(s) - were popular on Styleforum a few years back but discussion, or Forum fervour, moved on to focus on Edward Green, G&G, C&J, Carmina, and now Meermin (with a few other brands thrown in along the way).

Another well-made shoe that doesn't get a lot of love nowadays but which was quite widely discussed on SF some years back is the Tramezza line by Salvatore Ferragamo.

high end Santoni's are hard to get in the USA and have italian styling mostly.

the trend is conservative business dress now on SF, so more EG, GG (aggressive, but classic), John Lobb. Carmina, Alden, and C&J mid-tier of that.

Meermin is a budget brand.

What is the price point of "high-end" Santonis? Just curious. The shop I mentioned has them ranging from about $400-700. I'm eyeing one pair in particular that has been discontinued. As soon as my income permits, I'll be pulling the trigger on my first pair of Santonis

Does Nordstrom no longer carry Santoni (my local Nordstrom never did)? They are available online from Sherman Brothers (Philadelphia) and The Shoe Mart (Connecticut). I own one pair of Santoni's and like them a lot, but I'm reluctant to buy online because they seem to run large and for some models, extremely large.

I also own approximately 4 pairs of Ferragamo Tramezzas and like them VERY much. The styling is relatively conservative, they are comfortable, and they are very well constructed.

Santonis are well presented here in Europe, at the same stores where you can find Lobbs or EGs.
I've got 2 pairs, Fatte a Mano. Retail 550 euros (I paid 20% less) and I can't justify paying much more for their top line.
These have a good fit for my high instep, very soft leather and are not too agreesive (as most their models).
