Great shoes!

On saturday, I went to Antonio Solito, to see some of their work. They sell Kiton and Brioni, but they offer bespoke suits, coats, jackets, shirts, shoes, belts and all that stuff. They sell a pair of shoes that are $8,000 cry.gif. I was talking to the guy in there and he told me that from his experience Santoni is one of the best shoe makers. They also sell Santoni in there. Around here Santoni is under the radar people rather buy Prada or Ferragamo just becuase of the marketing not quality.

nice1take5 - You are a welcome addition to the thread.  I am going to email you at some point with a few offline questions.

I was just at the Nordstroms on Michigan Ave (Chicago) a few days ago trying on Santonis.  They only had one FAM but not in my size, no Goodyear though 3 months ago they had one Goodyear model, and again not in my size (13).  Of the ones I tried on this past week (Prichard, Quebec, Piermont, and one/two others), the only 13D that actually fit well and I liked was the brown Quebec.  But at full retail of $695 I wouldn't buy.

Any idea when if ever Quebec goes on sale, and if so by how much?  I'm always on Nordstrom's site and they do have some Santoni's at 50% off but not this one, plus probably not my size.  Sizing is odd, loafers at 13D are way too small, at least the 2 or 3 loafers I've tried.  However the Quentin that I own and the Quebecs I liked at store fit perfectly.

I like the pics you shared.  I'll be sure to head back into the store on Mich Ave in a few weeks to look for some of them.  There's a Nordstroms closer by where I live but they have a very limited selection of Santonis.

ThinkDerm,

Good news. I've arranged for some styles to be brought into my store - I'll take pictures of special ones that Santoni has a good size run of and post them up here some time within the next 2-3 weeks once my work schedule frees up.

Beach Bum,

I appreciate the kind words.

We had the Bologna constructed Quebec created for the Anniversary sale this past July, and they were on sale then. I can't speculate however if they will make it to the June Half-Yearly as we've done well with them post-Anniversary. It is all going to be based on how many units we have left in inventory corporately.

Another shoe that may fit you well is the Rayburn, it's constructed on a last slightly fuller than the Quentin, although it is slightly narrower than the Quebec.

Touch base with me via e-mail, I will keep you updated based on your preferences.

yeah that's what I assumed from earlier post.

Thinkderm replied asking to see a picture...here's at least the Nordstrom page for the shoe:

I got a brothers of these but in black. Do you have a carton box? Could you PM a pic of the sticker? I've wasted mine and forgot to write down the name of the boots.

Wow. Those are beautiful! Love the soles and how toasty those shoes will keep your feet in the winter...

Something I would like to know...  And maybe it's not a new thing, but: Why do some of the newer styles appear to be made from such cheap leather? (corrected even?)

The below shoe is the "Oliver", which I have seen in person. It has a stitched rubber sole, and is antiqued. Now I am fully aware that this is not the 700.00 classic line (like the Quentin, Sumner, Saxton), and retails at around 500.00. But I wouldn't pay even 100.00 for this shoe, because it honestly looks like it is made from plastic. The picture here doesn't quite demonstrate this issue... But if you've felt it you know what I mean. On another note, visiting the local Nordstrom in San Francisco has also shown me that many of the in-stock style also share this price-point and quality. Maybe the San Francisco branch has poor stock for whatever reason, but i wouldn't be caught dead in a pair of ANY shoe they are currently selling. Furthermore, If one were willing to spend 535.00 on a new shoe, they wouldn't balk at 700.00, which makes me wonder what the advantage of offering such a shoe is. The 700.00 Quentin is, perhaps pricey even, but is at least made of beautiful calf.
