Maher's had his critical moments of Obama since before he was elected.

I can't recall but did Romney reference the Biden comment that the "middle class has been buried the last four years?"

I kind of wish Obama was more agressive, but I think his debate prep was overly passive as a strategy for avoiding gaffes and underwhelming for details.
Overall, very good debate for Romney. He should be able to use this to stop the bleeding in the polls and maybe begin a small comeback in the polls over the next week or two. He desperately needs to start getting away from the 44's and 45's in the poll averages and start hitting 46 or maybe 47 for a consistent basis. At the very least, the good performance will help him on the direct fundraising side, as he is behind in small money.

As I suggested here (with my clear view of the American road signs) this debate was always going to be a slice and dice for Romney. I have suggested that Obama has no narrative or a narrative of failure.

Obama is like Wiley Coyote...beep beep! Roadkill.

No ACME teleprompter this time.

The Obama arrogance of "why do I have to be here"? Don't they know I am the Anointed One?" . Shuffling his feet around... gazing down... like a deer waiting to be despatched by a lion.

Pitiful body language.

Even the faked up polls are turning The last one that gave Romney and Obama 47-47 had a massive tilt to the Dems by using 2008 to evaluate voting patterns in 2012 - after a massive 2010 midterm turnaround.

Sorry guys 2008/2012 comparisons = apples and pears.

Romney to win.

As soon as the debate ended Maddow says "I don't know who won the debate." Lawrence O'donnell added by saying that it's not MSNBC's job to declare a winner. What else needs to be said?

This is the place where we debate about winners of debates?

I have to think Obama will do better next time. Thinking about it this morning, his performance last night really doesn't make any sense. So many big, crowd pleasy debate things he could have said that he didn't.

Too long in the Choomwagon?...Just sayin'

The moment early on in the debate when Romney mentioned a woman on the campaign trail who asked him "can you help me" had a larger impact than anything else said that night. Real or not, that woman's concerns personified the almost trite unemployment figures while also solving one of Romney's problems by instantly humanizing him. It's not an original tactic by any means, but last night it worked extremely well for him.

Just wanted you all to know that, at this very moment, my company:

Is consuming energy derived from foreign oil
is constructing a vent through our roof to pour emissions into the atmosphere
has boats under Liberian flag steaming towards our shores laden with Chinese components
is paying white men to sit in air-conditioned offices

And we are getting a deduction for all of it!

Don't try to pretend you are white.

Probably. Bitch's got 99 problems but decent campaign strategy ain't one. A month is a long time in politics the clownfest we call politics so it's probably a good idea to save the biggest guns for right before the election, so the undecided voters, the ones of the attention span of a flea, can be scooped with most efficiency.

The size of the animal does not dictate the length of its attention span. Consider the scholarly Robert Reich.

Anyway, one of the remaining debates will be on foreign policy and a good case can be made it is currently in shambles. I think Romney is going to make that case and Obama will have his work cut out for him.
