If i could do it all over again I would have pursued a career coaching college basketball.
When I was in college I had to sit out my junior year with a knee injury. The head coach asked me if I would be interested in being an assistant coach for the JV team and I jumped at the opportunity. I worked some major college summer camps and had lots of connections that could have set me up with a low level assistant job once I graduated and then worked my way up from there. Hell, the coach I assisted on the JV team has been a coach in the Ivy League for 10 years now.
Coaching my kid's soccer teams for the past few years has awakened that itch to coach again. Working with kids and watching them develop and get better at the things I am teaching them is very rewarding.
