Banana Republic's "Tailored" fit jackets are woefully undertailored. - Page 3

I am no tailor but what tailoring would you guys recommend on their jackets?  (besides the obvious that the sleeves are way too long)

I have 2 BR sport coats and they fit great, except for the fact that their sleeves are too long.  That is really the only tailoring I need to get on their jackets.

Then that's all you need. Simple as that.

printyra - I think the only real problem here is that whomever acted as stylist for the photo shoot didn't know anything about fitting suits. Maybe he or she thought they should fit like children's winter coats?

Each of those models is wearing a jacket at least one, possibly 2 or more sizes too big.

This looks very nice.

I imagine that's why they were going for. I think it's valid reasoning for choosing "every man" models, but it doesn't do a good job justifying the decision not to the jackets before taking pictures.

Banana Republic's jackets are actually good I have a blazer that has been a staple for many years.

If you find something you like, I'd get it, though I wouldn't force anything. Still, I've never had anything from BR fall apart on me as far as suits/jackets go, but I think I'm the only one on SF.
 

For 300 and with some patience, you could find something better on eBay.

Worth it?

No.  Too expensive.  You could probably find 2nd hand RLPL suits at around that price.  Thrifting is another very good option for beater suits.

Few actors are but they are dressed by wardrobe and advisors who know what they are doing.  When Connery first played Bond he was not used to wearing those bespoke suits and not comfortable in them so the director made him sleep in them to get comfortable (of course they were pressed by wardrobe the next day) Fleming didn't even like Connery as Bond and viewed him as an untutored working class lout.

I guess if you showed like a tiny bit it wouldn't be too gauche but you never see cuffs when arms are by your sides. If you do it means the jacket sleeves are too short or the shirt is too long.Look at the sleeve length too. Too many inexperienced  boys are wearing sleeves that are too short today and it ruins the way the jacket hangs. Any movement will make it look like a mess too.
