Banana Republic's "Tailored" fit jackets are woefully undertailored.

Jokes aside, I actually like how the jackets look on the models in pics #1, #4 and #6 (besides sleeve length obviously). I'm not a fan of Beatlegeuse's tight look above, but that's just me. The problem with the pictures is that it doesn't look like a "tailored" (as in "slim") style at all.

Picked up some slim fit wool trousers yesterday for 30% off that fit/look great... will just need to take up the hem about an inch. It's hit or miss, but some things from Banana are pretty nice.

FWIW, the jacket doesn't feel tight or restrictive at all IRL, but I guess in the pic the buttoning point does look a little on the tight side. Overall, I'm very happy with the fit. Interestingly enough, I had to size up to get a decent fit on the jacket. I'm usually a 40L, but I'm wearing a 42L in that pic. I did buy this jacket a little over a year ago, so maybe they relaxed the fit a little bit in the newer offerings?

Yeah, the buttoning point could look tight due to posture, and if you like a more slim look there's nothing wrong with it. The problem with these BR jackets is that they should offer them as "relaxed" or "classic" at most, otherwise it's misleading...

I'm sorry I havn't tried on this suit yet but I can't believe this picture. It is so ill-fitting. It doesn't look tailored at all, the waist is too loose and the arm lengths are about an inch too long. I love Banana and used to be a manager but I just can't understand why they used this picture to sell this suit.

Fess up, who was this?

Attached are a few of the tailored jackets from Banana Republic. At this point they're not even altering the jackets to look good for the website?

The clothes don't really fit the models. It's not tailored enough for their bodies.

I have a few tailored fit jackets from banana republic. They fit perfectly and without alteration. The problem here is the stylist is probably a woman.

I have a few tailored fit sportcoats and a blazer that I bought when they went on sales and they fit me well off the rack as well. I just wish the arm holes are a tad higher.

I personally would not buy their suits though. Nothing exciting about them.

I have a Banana Republic suit from 2003 that I like a lot - it was the first year they introduced their now discontinued "Modern Fit" 3-button line, and that year it was made in Italy. For years thereafter, they declined in quality (and, strangely, in size -- their 44R ended up fitting me like a tight 42 - i.e. not at all), ending up made in Pakistan, or Vietnam, or Guatemala (somewhere different every year), and I gave up on Banana Republic suits.

For some reason I was near a store and went in to try this new tailored fit line, and was pleasantly surprised by them overall -- they're true to size again, and fairly good looking, and fit me better OTR than their early 2000's suits. The models they used on the website are just woefully undersized for the clothes they put on them - absolutely atrocious.

Interestingly, each different fabric the model's available in seems to be made in a different country. The gray sharkskin is made in China. The charcoal is made in Canada, etc...

That said, I just got a new Suit Supply that's barely more expensive than a comparable BR, and much, much nicer.

Even after joining SF, I still look for BR jackets on eBay. They fit amazingly on me off the rack. Sleeve length is the only real issue with them, and that's because my left arm is longer (by a little over a centimeter) than my right.

I think their stylist is just balls. They clearly didn't give a **** when posting those pictures (and I suppose assumed that their customers wouldn't give a **** either).

lol...Were those pictures really on the website? I've never shopped at BR, and now I have a reason not to. JAB's "Tailored Fit" suits have been website pictures. I wouldn't buy one from them either.

These jackets could use a bit of tailoring if I may say so as the jackets are quite unflattering on the models.
