Reminds me of a newspaper fail in Germany.. they wrote about how illegal graffitis become more and more popular among teenagers. They focused on the vast ammount of Turkish teenagers, who, according to the journalist, tagged their first name "Acab" on the walls...

The LA River basically has two modes, trickle and flood. So, decades ago they built a narrow concrete channel to carry the normal water flow down to Long beach, with a wide concrete flood channel to handle the heavy rains. If you've seen the movie Grease, the drag race scenes were filmed on the LA River.

although in an interview recently i think he claimed the actual bridge was the pedestrian tunnel in macarthur park

Also, the part of the LA river near Atwater and Frogtown is kind of pretty in parts.
