Hi everyone...

I got a bespoke suit made last month, and I got it today.

I've got to say that it's too snug/baggy for my taste. Here are some pics, and I am sure you guys will probably agree that everything has to be heavily altered? I am 511", 170 lbs, and the suit makes me look fatter than I really am...!

These are what I think great suits.....wouldn't you all agree? Do you think mine can be altered to look just like these?

Are you able to go back to the maker for adjustments?

The cut isn't that bad but the measurements are off. Shoulder too wide. Blade too big. Fronts need some shape, tapering on the side seams from the shoulder down thru the waist to the hem.. Sleeves are too long and the sleeve opening could be reduced. You have a low left shoulder/high left hip combination. Don't be in a hurry to taper the leg, might be OK after shortening and wearing shoes. Vest would look better if the opening were deeper, lose the top button.
Sorry to say you may not look as trim as the models but some shape will help this suit. Why do you call this bespoke?

Basically the suit was made overseas (the measurement was done here in Canada though), but the alteration can be done free of charge by a local tailor who was referred to me by the company that made the suit (they often work together).

Well according to them this is a bespoke suit, made 100% from scratch.........I didn't see the tailor make the suit right in front of my eyes, so I can't say that it's not a made to measure suit either...

About my low left shoulder/high left hip: that's probably because I wasn't standing properly.....I put my camera on a tripod, so I was trying to position myself properly in front of the lens, and I kind of moved a lot, hence the disproportionate appearance....... =)

What is the name of the company that made the suit?

Not sure if it's appropriate to mention their name here......? Despite the less than desired outcome, the owner has been very kind and professional to me, and he's even gonna be covering the alteration costs....if I were to mention their name here, I'm afraid they could lose potential clients, and I wouldn't wanna hurt their business =/

By the way, forgot to mention.....this suit is for my wedding, which is 2 months away from now.

Now you all know why I'm upset....

If after the alteration it is still bad, not sure I'll be wearing it for the wedding...

Not sure what to do now... *sigh*

+1 and the pants look too long. Go back to them and see what they can do. Btw why did you accept this? Didn't you see something was off during any of the fittings? Oh and also "being able to see the tailor right in front of you" will not differentiate MTM and bespoke. Its weather or not a pattern was made for you that will make it bespoke. An example of this is forum favorite NSM. Mina will do the measurements here in the US but her tailors and i think even cutters (although she told me she cut my pattern but this could be a translation issue) are based in naples but it is still bespoke.

There were no fittings...

Let me explain what happened: I live in Toronto, Canada. The suit company doesn't have a store front....they conduct events in which people come to get their measurements taken, and they choose the suit colour, material, style, etc. I came to one of their events at the beginning of July

They are partnered up with a Hong Kong based tailor, who was at the event (he took my measurements). Then the tailor went back to Hong Kong to work on the suit.

Then, I think the tailor must've come back from Hong Kong a few days ago, to bring back the suits for the clients. I got the suit in the mail today, and I saw that it was shipped from Toronto, so I guess they packaged it here after arriving from Hong Kong........

So yeah no fittings at all...if any, today is what I would call the fitting, because today is the first time I've worn the finished suit.....

Fair enough, but if the customer service is good, then I would not be hesitant to share the name. Companies make mistakes. if they can correct them, its not a black mark. That being said - we come here to share experiences and yours could be valuable to someone considering this firm.

Don't fret - with 2 months you have plenty of time to get a suit for your wedding - possibly even MTM or "bespoke" if the company is aware of your timelines. Just make a decision whether you are having this one altered or moving on...

Isn't bespoke suppose to be characterized by multiple fittings, so you would be satisfied with the fit before the suit is finished? Yours looks like you wrote down the measurements yourself and mailed it to him in another part of the world.

No no no...I didn't take the measurements myself...as I mentioned in post #8, I actually came to one of their events (in which I chose the material, colour, lining, style, paid for the suit), and their Hong Kong based tailor took my measurements......

Regardless of how you stand you have a low left shoulder and a high left hip. Almost everyone has this issue.

This is MTM branded as "bespoke".

Have a discussion with the tailor they recommend and see what he is willing to do and what he thinks the outcome will be. The major issues like balance and the way the sleeves hang are very good so you don't have issues that require a remake or recut. Most jackets cut and made in this manner don't have good shaping but that is do to limitations of manufacturing. AFter you get shape at the waist the shoulders will look bigger than they do now so the adjustments need to be thorough. Get the jacket fitting first and then decide what to change on the trouser. You want to strike a balance of proportion and create a good line between the jacket and the trouser.

Where is the wedding? Two months from now is October and this suit looks summery, casual. Getting married on a beach?

I'm about to go to the tailor's workshop now....wish me luck!

The wedding is going to be in Indonesia... :). Not at the beach though....the morning matrimonial ceremony will be at the cathedral, and the night reception at a banquet hall in a hotel.....

the reason you are getting your nuts stomped on here is because you called it bespoke, which its not (not even close). fairly touchy subject around here.

This is a Made to measure suit, and somebody quite frankly fucked the measurements up, especially if you wanted it to look like those pictured.

All is not lost however. The company should be able to fix it in the 2 month timeframe.
