I think it's the Catch 22 of college coaching. To get to the highest ranks in college, you have to have an ego and determination that doesn't settle for security when it presents itself, so often you see these successful coaches try to make the jump to the pros and fail in the process. I bet Chip Kelly thinks he can do what he's doing at Oregon in the NFL, but the records of other coaches that tried aren't as successful, including the best coach in college.
