That Tech win was one of my upset picks for this bowl season, and it was the one in which I was most confident. That ridiculous offense they run is really hard to beat the first time you play against it. It gave Georgia (and most of Tech's other regular opponents) fits for about one season. Then they "solved" it, and now Tech is back to mediocrity. USC doesn't have the luxury of playing Tech annually, so the Trojans were ripe for getting beaten by an offense that hasn't seen widespread use since before its players were born.
It also didn't hurt Tech's chances that USC clearly didn't want to be in that bowl in the first place.
