BCS rules state that if a non-AQ team is 16th or higher and ranked higher than an AQ-team, the non-AQ team gets the BCS berth.
Which means Kent State will get an Orange Bowl bid if they win, because teams above them will be off or have lost this weekend. If NIU wins, they have a real longshot chance. There are no Big East teams ranked currently.
If KSU beats FSU, then Jimbo deserves to be fired along with the rest of his staff and the school needs to call Nick Saban, remind him of his wanderlust and ask him to name his price; even though everything I've heard about Kent State says they are a really good squad.
Oh, and a Tech/KSU Orange Bowl isn't an impossibility because Tech could get a BCS waiver though I doubt they will beat FSU or get a waiver if they do.
It's madness. the ACC doesn't deserve an automatic seat with the big boys atm.
Now I am signing off again.
Randomly selected these schools just for shits and giggles about their OOC and to prove thatsoft OOC schedules are NOT the exclusive realm of the SEC (although why this has to be demonstrated, IRDK).
USC--ND which is tradition. For 2012-22 they have... Hawaii, Hawaii, BC, BC, Utah State, Fresno State, 'Cuse, aTm, aTm, Texas, Texas, Tennessee. 7/11 are underwhelming.
Michigan--ND, UMass (a first-year FBS team, playing them this year), Bama, Central Mich, Akron, Conn; App State, Miami OH, Utah; Utah, Oregon State, BYU, UNLV; Hawaii, Colorado , Ball State; Arkansas; Arkansas; Notre Dame. Wow, not even going to touch that schedule.
Oregon--Arkansas State, Fresno State, Tenn Tech; Nicholls State Nevada, Tenn; Wyoming, Michigan State; Eastern Washington @Michigan State, GEORGIA STATE; Wyoming; Bowling Green, aTm; aTm; Ohio State; Ohio State. You've got tOSU and Georgia State as the only two teams you can all but guarantee will be solid opponents and those are like 10 years away.
Oklahoma--UTEP, FAMU, ND; ULM, Tulsa, ND; Tennessee, Tulsa; Tennessee, Tulsa. ND; tOSU; tOSU; LSU, Army; LSU, Army; Nebraska; Nebraska. Again, not an OOC scheudle inspiring much fear.
So basically what I'm saying is from a random sample of four conference leaders, its clear that in the already very limited number of possible OOC Games teams all over teh country from every conference prefer cupcakes.
