When was the last time that Notre Dame was #1? The Rick Mirer days?

This is the worst loss by a #1 team that I can remember. Getting blown out by a team with a losing record?

Holy Shit is about all I can say.  Bama is back controlling their own destiny.  What is everyones thoughts on what the rankings should be after tonight.  Brad Edwards said BCS tomorrow will be 1-ND, 2-Bama, 3-UGA, 4-FLA, and 5-KState.  There is no way you can rank K State ahead of Oregon in my opinion.  Oregon lost in OT to the No. 13 team and K State was absolutely blown out by a team with a losing record.  My thoughts are as follows; 1-ND, 2-Bama, 3-UGA, 4-FLA, 5-Oregon, 6-LSU, 7-TA&M, 8-FLState, 9-SouthCarolina, 10-KState.  Could possibly see another all SEC NC game should ND lose.

If Oregon wins their last game and ND doesn't, I would guess Oregon, who had a close loss against a good team. Although if ND makes it a close game against USC on the road, then they should probably stay in the game.

Only possible way that would happen if if Bama beats UGA and then ends up playing Florida. Every other SEC team has two loses, or would by that point, and a two loss SEC team is not going in over all the other one loss teams this year. Florida has not looked like a National Championship team and is as high as they are from lack of other options, I don't see them ending up #2 if UGA loses to Bama.

In this system, the team that lost most recently moves lower... dumb, but true.

Yeah, I meant that it SHOULD be ND in that scenario, but I would predict that it would be Oregon. USC is lower ranked this year and has a worse record, but an ND win against USC on the road is hugely significant.

Then again, if Stanford beats UCLA, Oregon doesn't even get a shot at the conference championship. That's obviously not fatal, considering Bama won last year without winning the conference. But if Stanford beats UCLA, then beats them again to win the Pac 12, AND ND loses, I have to think the Cardinal could move up to #2.

Then again, Bama could lose to Auburn (don't laugh, lousy Auburn teams have beaten cocky Bama teams before) and then beat Georgia and really throw this scenario into disarray.

If ND loses, Florida beats Florida State, and Alabama beats Georgia, I think Florida would have a strong claim to a berth in the BCS Championship Game. They would have the best wins of any team other than Alabama, and an Alabama-Florida matchup would not be a rematch of a game that took place during the regular season (which was one of the major complaints about last year's championship game).

Georgia got a #1 vote in the coach's poll. Poll hard, Richt. Poll hard.

Alabama also got 2 1st place votes. Talk about SEC bias.

Given the fact that in all probability Matt Barkley is going to be out with an injured shoulder, I should expect an ND win over USC to be almost a foregone conclusion. I think only the margin of victory will be significant. A blowout will help ND, a narrow win will hurt.

The possibility of back-to-back games between Stanford and UCLA is interesting. Although rematches between teams, even in the same conference is not unheard of, having them occur on consecutive weekends is something of a novelty, isn't it? Particularly interesting would be if UCLA loses the regular season game to Stanford, then beats them in the rematch. This would create the anomaly of UCLA with three conference losses being the champion in preference to Oregon, with probably only a single conference loss.

So I guess I'm reduced to hoping that both ND and Flordia get upset next week, so that Oregon has a chance to be #2 after Bama and UGA duke it out in the SEC champ.

Fucking Oregon sports teams always manage to choke when it counts.
