I did. Your conference is better overall and your defenses are a complete joke. Which was the point of my original post.

This exchange is tempting me to post a comparison of the two conferences academics.

Now that Ed's not posting on SF anymore, I don't have any contact with him, so I'd appreciate it if someone would pass the following article along to him.

Georgia State tries to attract fans the old fashioned way, by dropping $10,000 on them

Georgia State is building up its football program with coach Bill Curry, and needs to get fans out to the stadium to help attendance.

There's no better way to get fans to come watch than giving them cold, hard cash. So Georgia State, which debuted its football program in 2010, will drop $10,000 in vouchers onto the field at halftime of today's game against New Hampshire.

Letting students fight it out over $10,000 in vouchers ... what could go wrong?

The school says that up to 400 Georgia State students will be on the field grabbing as many envelopes, which will contain money vouchers of various denominations that can be redeemed at Georgia's Own Credit Union, as they can. The envelopes will be dropped from the rafters to the field.

This isn't the first time a promotion like this has been tried. Dinamo Zagreb soccer players in the Champions League offered one million kunas (or about $174,000) to fans if they sold out a game. We're pretty sure there was a scene in Bull Durham in which fans were grabbing money flying around on the field. So it might not be totally original, but it is a creative way to boost attendance.

Maybe Kentucky should try it.

Radical plan: they could try "Winning the occasional football game." Might help.

I mean, if they're getting blown out by the likes of William and Mary (go Tribe!), how do they think they're going to be competitive in the Sun Belt when they move?

Yeah, I don't get it. They started a program in a saturated market, both in terms of the sheer number of programs and quantity of programs recruiting in their state, and, on top of that, they've decided to fast track their transition from 1AA to 1A. It really seems like a terrible approach to me.

How about them Nittany Lions? Great win against Northwestern. They are emerging as the feel-good story of the year, sort of like the Oakland A's in this year's baseball season. (I mean, other than that the A's management didn't look the other way while an important member of the organization sexually assaulted children and thus get banned from postseason play. But abstracting from that.)

I had thought PSU would lose to Northwestern for sure. Good comeback.

In other football news, Michigan is whipping Purdue badly. Top of the 2Q. and it's 21-0.

Man, I'm so relieved that the Longhorns scored on their first drive in answer to WVU's score.

South Carolina looks unstoppable, and it's only the 1st quarter. 21-0 thus far.

I expect to see Alabama and USCe in the SEC championship.I am disappointing because I wanted to see Bama play the dogs. That game was scheduled until Missouri joined the conference.ffffuuuu.gif

Man, does Auburn suck this year or what.

UT defense is looking mediocre, at best.

Just as you say this, Texas has 3 straight tackles for a loss including a strip sack recovered for a touchdown.

I take that back.
