This was probably the year that FSU was turned away from the SEC. Seeing that the cheerleaders in that picture have all their teeth, I can see why.
Actually, that would have been the 1985 Gator Bowl (unless FSU played Oklahoma State another time between 1958 and 1985 that I'm unaware of).

That's pretty haughty talk from the guy who lives where SEC fans go to vacation.

It gets worse. The A&M starting quarterback is a Freshman out of Kerrville Tivy. Enrollment: 1,333. ******* hell, going from AA to the bright lights of the SEC is...I don't even. Good Lord, I feel so bad for the kid. I hope he's a fighter.
...

The good news is that he at least gets to play his first SEC game at home. It's a against Florida, which would have been tough a few years ago, but they're not exactly Florida right now.

:bounce2: Or are you serious?

If I'm honest, I dont think UW will win the game, but UW has recieving threats that will be difficult for LSU to match up with. I expect LSU D-line to shut down the run (especially off-tackle), but am hoping that our TEs having success across the middle will loosen up the inside run a bit as the games goes on. I don't see LSU passing all that much (for matchup reasons as well as overall scheme). Should keep the game close.

I have a question re: UW. Is it common for fans to call them the "Dawgs?" I ask because I have a friend of a friend on Facebook who is a UW fan, and he keeps talking about the "Dawgs" upcoming season. Every time I see it I think, "I didn't know Xxxxx is a Georgia fan," only to realize he's stolen our word.

Now I can't help but wonder if there's some trend among football fans in the Pacific Northwest where they try to sound like Southerners when they talk about their team.

I don't think Upper-Left-Coasters can pull off the Southern Sound without having a few teeth pulled.

Yes, UW fans call UW the Dawgs. Been doing it for as long as I can remember. UW has actually been playing football for longer than UGA (1889 vs. 1892) but UGA associated with a dog mascot earlier (1920 vs. 1923). As for who started using "Dawgs" earlier, I dunno.

Ohhhhh. Yeah, about that one, Vince . . . :uhoh:

He'll always have his 2 Rose Bowls, be a legend in Texas and have millions of dollars. He's lived a good life it's just unfortunate that it peaked in college.

Jeez, I was just checking the interwebz and some jackass Sports Fortune Teller is calling for an upset of the Texas A&M - La. Tech game.

That hurts, man. Really hurts.

In other news I ventured out into the world and ran into a few Aggies wearing A&M/SEC themed caps and shirts. Wonder how long THAT's going to last.
