prada-2012-fall-winter-levitate-wingtip-1-620x413.jpg

For Fall/Winter 2012, high fashion house Prada has created another head-turning and opinion-dividing hybrid shoe. Following in the footsteps of its wingtip sneakers and espadrilles — footwear that spawned hosts of fans, imitators, and detractors alike — this season’s “Levitate” wingtips are a mash-up of a high-end wingtip and performance sneaker. The sole appears to be a take on a transparent, full-length Nike Max Air unit, while the uppers are comprised of burnished leather with brogue detailing. The Fall/Winter “Levitate” range also includes a loafer, Chelsea boot and kiltie brogue, for those looking at other means of rising above the traditional shoe game. Regardless of one’s opinions regarding the shoe’s aesthetics, what is certain is that they are now available for purchase at Nordstrom.

I was just in Neiman Marcus and they had these and several other equally "creative" Prada shoes that look like a cross between classic, mixed with moon shoes, mixed with out-there contemporary. One pair looked like BB black wing tips that had been dipped in bright yellow plastic about half way up.

As much as I hate them, pretty smart of Prada. Cole haan nike air shoes have sold well. Celebs and kids wear sneakers with their suits, so this bastardization should appeal to them

I like the idea and the look.

People already MTO enough Tricker's in extreme peacocking colors and make-ups and this is not that much different. The only edge part of the shoes is the sole

If I see someone wearing this, its a tell-tale of how stupid they are.

Thanks Prada, for helping us quickly label the dumb ones.

Does this mean Church's manufactures these? Prada bought them out if I recall.
