Reasons why New York Sucks - Page 654

I did particularly enjoy the woman in the cheese department of a Pennsylvania Wegmans telling me how cheese was sold in NY and Europe, not realizing, then not caring that I came home to NY from living in Europe for the holidays. To her credit, she was very nice.

Link doesn't work.

Also...the 'devotees' often have no alternate selection where they live so Wegmans is "great."

Exactly. So Wegmans is the "shit" in their eyes. They really know not much else.

well it's better than Whole Foods, better than Fairway, better than Trader Joe, better than Food Emporium, better than Gristedes, better than D'Agostino ... so what are you getting at?

I was quite impressed by the Wegman's near my inlaws in Virginia.

What I am saying is that the majority of people who have a Wegmans and are "devotees" don't also have all of those choices where they are. NYC is much more diverse and has all of those other options...w/o having a Wegmans. Having one now ain't a game changer.

Yeah that was totally unclear. That's what I get for trying to write on a train. I meant I got lectured on how cheese was sold in NY and Europe by a woman working at a Wegmans in Pennsylvania, but she didn't realize that I currently live in Europe, and I'm originally from NY. She clearly had never been to either place, but was trying to brag about how their cheese counter was just as good as in France. It was not.

I totally disagree. I'd say it's the quality level of Trader Joe's, but the selection of an average Whole Foods. They have a lot to choose from, but nothing is particularly good.

Did she think that some of her customers believe cheese in only a Pennsylvania thing? Like cheesesteaks?

For some reason I thought you lived in the LES.

My brother said he was walking back from grabbing a bagel and saw that scene moments after it happened.

Some video in this article of the minutes after it happened: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/nypd-shoots-hammer-attack-suspect-article-1.2220522

*edit* I love how that NY Post article has a bunch of typos where "Baril" was auto-corrected to "Basil".

Oh nice! NMWA office? I should stop by sometime to see the goods. I'm in that area (34th and 8th) quite often.
