Picturing @Manton carrying a Samurai sword onto the subway is odd indeed.

I've worried about this walking to my butcher.

I'd think your size would make you instant cop-bait no matter how white bread you are.

You are wrong. Manton is invisible. Not sure if it is the whitebread or the ninja skilz that go with the samurai knives.

I think I'd be evacuating rather than taking video to post on YouTube.

That's because you are a San Fo softie. I mean that in a good way.

PS. I'd have run away long before because I am delicate.

Well, not that much tbh.

Oh, and one extra last question.. Are restaurants usually strict with the alcohol policy as in they'll want to see id proving you're 21 before serving wine for you? :lookaround:

I've never been asked for an ID in a restaurant in NYC - in 15 years.  But I definitely don't look younger than 21 so there's that

I suspect carding varied from place to place. I once ran a dinner in a private room at Boulud Sud and they wouldn't serve wine to my guests who didn't have ID.

Oh well, I'm 20 and kind of look 20 so I'll just have to wait and see I guess. Feels odd coming from a country where no one minds that you drink wine at restaurants when you're 16 (and alcohol in general even younger).

There are places...but you quickly forget which places they are once you turn 21 yourself.
Find out wherever a bunch of college finance interns go...those places probably don't card hard.

a couple of years ago, i went to a dinner that included foo and Mrs. foo--who both look about 12--and I was the only who got carded.

I'm going with my parents so it's mainly if you get carded at restaurants, exploring the nightlife of NYC's clubs will be the next time I visit :)
