Reasons why New York Sucks - Page 60

I'm just saying RC is the only thing that would seem to be a natural draw for tourists in an otherwise dismal stretch. Except that, as noted, all streets near the park are always crowded and 57th is still a major shopping street at least to 7th Ave.

It's the other RC: Rockefeller Center. There is a steady stream of tourists between Rock Center/Radio City and Times Square, which means 6th ave pedestrian traffic between 42nd and 50th. Foot traffic also gets sucked northward by Central Park.

I guess. I've always used it as a way to avoid the holiday throngs on 5th, but now it seems as bad. I've never lived in the thick of it before so maybe I'm just reacting to the masses around me.

On the plus side, the leftette is happy because Bill Cunningham took her picture everyday last week.

This.

It's a shitshow around there. Takes me forever to go the three short blocks from my office to the subway.

I have worked at 46th and 6th for 6+ years. It's always this bad, though there is some variation with economic conditions.

Really? I guess I never noticed. When did the office buildings start "one upping" each other with decorations?

Daniel Boulud was manning the hot dog station at Épicerie Boulud this Saturday.

I am quite glad that getting to that place is a minor nuisance for me.

That is an achievement. he has yet to photograph me, which I assume is is why he is still working.

When she walks to work she does so with a certain insouciance. Perhaps you're trying too hard?

They spoke this morning. She said he was as charming and shy as portrayed.

Unlike dopey, you live in the wrong part of town.

That said, it's the DBLT I lust after. Too bad they seem to have stopped serving them. I was going to lodge a complaint with the man himself, but I was too starstruck and focused on my canelé.

Seems to me that he takes most of his shots midtown, around 5th and 57th.

Yes. That's where I sit (on one of those English Brolly seats, NE corner) in my best Patrick Macdonald getup. But so far, he has refused to photograph me.
