The Narrative sounds like some ultra right wing paranoid conspiracy theory hullabloo. Manton has mastered his craft.

This is especially perfect being the New York thread.

It may not be conscious, but it surely is palpable, teh Narrative.

Right, and there is no PC, and the media is "conservative" because it is corporate, I've heard them all.

Now it's not merely "no human being can be illegal," but "there are no illegals." OK, so then why all the fuss about amnesty?

Part of The Narrative is to constantly push to see how gigantic it make the magnitude of the lies we are forced to genuflect to. All those who resist must be crazy, there is no ohter explanation.

Manton and I hold may opposite opinions on some things that involve The Narrative (like gay marriage), and we are on the same side in others, but to deny that The Narrative exists is just plain silly, IMO.

Isn't amnesty a pro-bidness initiative?

Certainly big business thinks so. With good reason, for their own pocketbooks. Is it good for other businesses? Or for the country?

And anti-worker/union. I'm always astounded at how the players line up on this one.

Yet union leadership universally goes along, for the sake of The Narrative, which does not exist. Cesar Chavez was anti-immigration because he wanted to keep his own rank and file's wages high. This has been crammed down the memory hole once Chavez was transformed from Union Firebrand into Mexican-Immigrant-Saint (even though he was not an immigrant). That too can ahve nothing do with The Narrative because, again, it does not exist.

Or...sometimes interests line up in interesting ways. Strange bedfellows and all that...

strange bedfellows does not account for making a man who actively worked to oppose immigration (out of concern for the welfare of the people he was entrusted to lead) into the secular saint for Open Borders. that's just idiocy crammed down the throats of a public that doens't seem to notice or care.

Yes, the people who buy the lie bear some culpability, but those who sell the lie bear much more.

Have you ever done my Vietnam War experiment? Ask 10 random people under the age of 30 what POTUS got us into Vietnam. Odds are good 10/10 will say it was Nixon.
