call it paranoia or what have you, but I always stand with my back to the wall on a subway platform

I'm pretty close as well. I don't trust the crazies.

Same. And never walk along the yellow edge to move down the platform.

Gomes, I hope you yelled, "I'm walking here!" I try to use that at least once a week.

this is actually a good line to use on the platform when people do a slow walking zig zag. I can't stand it when people do this, makes me want to push them onto the tracks.

note: i won't ever do that.

My neverending struggle with my younger son is to get him to walk in a non-annoying manner on city sidewalks. I'm like a broken record: "Walk in a predictable way. Watch out for other people. Don't swing your arms around or make other sudden movements." He's like a fucking suburban kid!

That's pretty much my internal monologue when I'm really drunk. Thank you for leading me to the realization that I love and care for drunken me like my own son.

kids are major sidewalk etiquette offenders, and the worst of the worst are the kids who ride those stupid Razr scooters. I've seen them slam into people too many times.

adults who ride scooters on the sidewalk also suck, but for different reasons.

(Quoting myself)

......and board members of the various agencies:

MTA board member would 'like to ban' backpacks to ease subway crowding

pricks.

granted, a backpack is a magical object. So magical that once you put it on, you lose all concept of spacial awareness.

People with backpacks on the subway are supremely annoying. They love to turn from side to side smacking everyone in a 100 degree arc behind them. It should be legal stomp on their toes, I think, but banning backpacks outright is going too far.
